Man, Dr. Anita is great! They're super flexible, engaging, and a great professor to have! Class was literally the easiest thing I've ever taken - open note unit quizzes and a few 300-word writing applications every unit were really the only obligations you have.

Anita is a very nice professor with a great lecture style. Discussions are held with the TAs and very easy to attend and enjoy. There are weekly open note quizzes. There are 13 assignments over the course of the semester graded pass/fail. If you fail you can redo them and you only have to do 10/13. There are no finals or exams in this class.

Xingman was the TA for the weekly discussion sessions. She always kept the review of the weekly material short. We had 12 writing assignments for the whole semester, which were easy. She let us leave after the lecture if we did not want to complete the writing assignment in class. Her writing assignments were 300 words or less and were easy topics.

Dr. Skye was a great lecturer. The class was 3 days a week, 2 lectures and the discussion on Fridays. She taught on Wednesdays, a recorded asynchronous lecture. There were 7 quizzes (1 per unit), 12 writing assignments (1 per week), and a mandatory graded attendance to discussion. She always tried to keep the content relevant to the present time and made the content interesting.

Trevor was a great lecturer. He always tried to make the content interesting and engage with the students. He didn't take attendance, so many students decided to not show up. It was about 22/100 students that came to lecture, which was kind of upsetting because he was always excited to teach. We had 7 quizzes total, 1 per unit. There was a weekly writing assignment that happened during discussion sessions with the TA (they had to be 300 words or less). Overall an easy class.

Raph's enthusiasm and knowledge on the topics covered are exactly what you want out of a professor! He's also there to help if you need it. Bonus points if you like baseball (he loves fantasy baseball)!

I LOVE Raph. He always offers to help his students and provides any assistance they need. I took this class in Fall of 2022 and it was in-person for the first 3 weeks then asynchronous. It was super easy and definitely an interesting course. We had an assignment each Monday and Wednesday then our Friday discussions met in-person.

I took this class online in Summer 2022 and the professor was amazing. The professor is knowledgeable and passionate of the course content, so you will feel very engaged in the class instead of feeling bored. There were a lot of video lecture recordings to watch. The professor made sure that each recording gave all details about the topic of that recording. Active participation really matters since this is a communication course. Homework assignments were easy since a majority of the assignments is to post replies on the lecture questions, as well as writing a few paragraphs for the theory application logs. The final paper is time-consuming given the specific requirements that you have to fulfill, but so long as you do the research and paper several days before the due date/deadline, then you are set. The only downside of the course is the assigned readings, as some of the readings are really long. Overall, this course is great and the professor is awesome.

The class is basically a course meant to filter people out of the COMM major. If you've generally done well in school, this class shouldn't be any different. It requires a lot of memorization, and the TA's and professor Hubbard don't like to hand anything to you, they make you learn and apply metatheoretical assumptions to theories yourself which is quite frustrating. She isn't the devil, like the other comments said, but she isn't the easiest or most approachable professor.

DO NOT TAKE HUBBARD! She seems sweet at first glance, but my goodness she is the devil. I have no idea how one professor can have so much evil on the inside. DO NOT TAKE A CLASS WITH SUSAN HUBBARD You've been warned.

Ok so heres the deal. She's really a nice lady, but thats not gonna cut it. Her teaching style consists of putting up a slide with barely any writing on it, speaks about it when of the information she says is relevant or easy to understand, then switches to the next topic before you can finish taking notes. She always states that the class average for an exam is below 80. I will step out of an exam after an estimated 40 hours of studying thinking i got at least a 90, then boom exam scores go out and i get an 80. She then claims that these are the exam scores and are not a typo. The fact that she has to specify that scares me. Her exams were unfair given the amount of information we needed to know and how sucky of a lecturer she is. On top of all this the TA's were garbage and i could not understand a word they said ( and i never say that about people with accents). All in all the amount of studying, stress, and aggravation i got from this class was too much for the grade i received

You have to study for this class. There are 2 midterms and a final, and you can earn up to 3% extra credit on your final exam by participating in SONA studies (you can find short, easy ones that can be done online at home). You have to memorize stuff about a lot of theories, however the exams are all multiple choice, which makes it easier. Homework is due every week in discussion, it is graded on completion and whether or not you participated, so if you do the homework it should help your grade. She was a good professor overall, used a lot of good examples in class that you can relate to or understand, which helped with understanding of the concepts. Questions on the tests can be tricky. No curve unless the average grade in the class is significantly low (under a C).

This is not an easy class and studying doesn't assure you an A. But she is an effective teacher and explains a lot if you attend lecture. She does have strict grading policies but they are equally strict for everyone. If you know right away not to mess with the grading policies then they shouldn't be a problem

Susan Hubbard was my professor and I received a B in the class. However I definitely had to study. It is a lot of information to learn and there are not that many assignments. There are 3 exams and extra credit by doing a sona study. I would definitely recommend doing the sona study because its really easy. As long as you study your notes really well you should do fine in the class but unfortunately learning about theories is not very interesting. It is a lot of memorization

Professor Hubbard wasn't the best teacher, but she wasn't my worst either. The class doesn't take a lot of effort (2 exams + final, no quizzes or daily homework, just a discussion assignment due every other week), but it is imperative that you attend every class, take notes outside of the powerpoints, and study because though she is easygoing in class, her tests are pretty challenging and she doesn't give busy work to help balance out your grade. I had zero interest in the material, and her voice is very easy to tune out, but doing that only makes you have to work harder. Going to every discussion WILL save your grade. Not that the discussions were very helpful in understanding the material, but attendance and participation counts as a test grade which will be very helpful if you don't do so well on the exams.
