COMM475 Expecting an A Anonymous 05/10/2024 |
As a teacher, she's great, she's funny, and she makes it so that it is nearly impossible to fail her class. As a person, she is a stickler for minor things. One interaction I had with her was shocking. She is blunt and wants things her way. Don't leave class early, don't leave in the middle of class for too long, don't use your computer for notes, etc. It's a bit old school and hard to keep up. Would I retake her? Only if I had to. Remember, there are scantron tests twice throughout this class; it is up to you if you study the content. If you don't, you will fail. You can only take hand-written notes and be prepared to make it to every class because she takes attendance and has in-class activities every day. That is a part of college, and it wasn't my issue with her. |

COMM475 Expecting a B- Anonymous 12/18/2014 |
I've had Hubbard twice now, in both comm250 and comm475 and let me put this as nicely as I can, she's a true ****. She is an enthusiastic professor but often students are shocked when they get their grades back. That's because her tests are extremely hard and she really prides herself for that. Based on her evaluations, almost half of her students (47% I believe) rated her as receiving too low of grades based on their effort. She used to work on campaigns but I guess she sucked at that and then became a professor. I assume this was for the shear fact of obtaining the power to fuck with you, for no reason, much like the police do. I digress. Yes, college is hard but for the amount of effort you have to put in the class it's just not worth the unreasonable stress. And no, in case you thought for one second, that effort counts for anything, get that thought out of your head immediately! Effort means NOTHING to her, so don't waist your time meeting with her to talk about your grade. She doesn't care how much you studied, how hard you tried, what you've learned, how you can apply the material to real life situations, nothing! Find another professor to take these classes with and don't buy her girl scout cookies either. |
