Economics of Big Data
Prerequisite: Minimum grade of C- in ECON326 and 1 course with a minimum grade of C- from (ECON321, STAT401). STAT400 is not acceptable for the statistics prerequisite unless ECON422 is also completed with C- or better. Restriction: Must be in Economics Bachelor of Science program. The importance of big data in the global economy is rising. Students will explore the definition and characteristics of big data, the impact of big data on individuals, use of big data by firms, entrepreneurs and non-profits, as well as how big data reshapes various public policies.
