Don't let the reviews from 2022 fool you! Try to avoid his 462 course, his review material is entirely based on another professor

Baz is a professor who truly cares about his students and wants everyone to succeed in the class. He doesn't mind if you ask basic questions, always posts answers to assignments and even records his officer hours. He is the god of ENME462!

Very engaging professor who tries his best to make sure every student understands. Exams are very manageable as well as studios so I dont feel like Im ever drowning in work.

LOVED this professor. He really cares about students getting an understanding of the material. If you go to his office hours he will go through homework problems. If you miss it don't worry he posts the recordings too. Exam are stupid easy if you have any understanding of the material. About to attack this end of semester lab which looks rough, but I bet he'll help. Highly recommend this professor if you need to take this course.

Xiaotian was super helpful during the studio sections for ENME 462. Xiaotian did brief content reviews before starting the studio problem for the week, answered any questions clearly and in a way for students to understand, and was super helpful. He is a nice guy, very approachable, and willing to help in any way possible!

Dr. Baz is an amazing professor. He acknowledges that this is a senior-level course and wants the students to pass it and "get it done." He has long lecture slides but does most of the writing on the board. The homework was tough, but he goes over the solutions during his office hours, and he records and posts them as well. The exams could be challenging, but he posts practice problems and has problems posted in the lecture slides. Dr. Baz provides plenty of resources to do well in this course, and he also is a light grader on his exam. There is nothing negative to say about Dr. Baz!

By far one of the best classes I had to take at UMD as a transfer student. The lectures may seem as if you are not learning a lot and the homework can be tough but Baz has office hours that literally explains how to answer the questions. If you come PREPARED, study and ask questions you will get an A. The course project at the end of the semester looked a little rough but Baz always helps. Baz wants his students to do well and makes sure of that. If you are struggling he works with you. A great class and a great professor!

Baz is great. His homeworks tend to be pretty hard, but his exams are a dream. There was rampant cheating on the first exam in my class so they scrapped the grade and had us take the rest of the exams in class, but despite this the average on the second exam was a 96. Honestly, never had an exam as easy as that in my 4 years at UMD. Overall, great at lecturing and very reasonable exams, take this class with him if you can!

I enjoyed Dr. Ainane's lectures for this course because there was a good blend of notes/conceptual explanations mixed with him solving example problems. There was a new policy for midterms and the final exam this semester, where it was an online quiz with a multiple choice/fill in the blank format. For many, the new format made it easier than what the written exams would have been, but for some including myself, it became an inconvenience, as there was no partial credit. Regardless, I am not certain that this format will be used in the future. In general, the content of the course is not too challenging if you put in a good amount of work, and do the homework assignments. Additionally, there are a hefty amount of Youtube videos from various sources which can help break down any confusing control systems related concepts.

Dr. Baz is awesome. It will feel like you're not learning much, and his lectures can be super boring, but I felt by the end I had learned a decent bit about controls. The homework is insanely tough but he takes you through it in office hours. The exams on the other hand are crazy easy (as in you will get an A if you come prepared). My favorite thing with Dr. Baz is that he realizes you aren't going to solve a bunch of equations by hand in real life so he encourages using programs like MATLAB.

Dr. Baz is the best professor I've had here. He takes great care to go over everything in a lot of detail and simply so people can understand it. Homework are pretty hard, but ask him to go over a problem in office hours and he'll walk you through how to solve it. Exams are really simple and test core understanding. Baz has never written an extremely difficult or unfair exam. Amazing professor, you can tell he really cares about teaching.

Class is not terribly tough, but understanding the professor is tough. I ended up having to rely on online lecture recordings of the other professor teach at the time. This class could be much easier with a better professor. Grading is tough also, with no partial credit possible on the exams.

Great professor. He takes his time going over the material in class and then in the discussions the TA reviews it again to make sure you really understand it. Exams are open book. Homeworks are generally tough and long but some problems come from the book. I would recommend taking Dr. Baz for any class as he is a great teacher! Very helpful at office hours and student concerns as well!

Vibrations II managed to be much easier than Vibrations I, probably due to Dr. Baz. Well laid out lectures slides that guide you through the homeworks. And there were just 2 exams, homework, and a final. Exams were open book! Take Dr. Baz!
