04/29/2025 		I took this class (the games elective) in Fall 2024, just never wrote a review until now. Dr. Lu is one of the most thoughtful and earnest professors I’ve ever had. People sometimes get the wrong first impression because she's a yapper, but don't let that scare you. Both in this class and in general, Dr. Lu is a big proponent of value-based design. She has high hopes for DCC students' potential, and I would argue that she's a big part of what makes DCC a design program instead of a typical art program. Assignments for this class were reasonable. There were a few assignments across the semester for an individual game, one final deliverable for a class-wide game, and some reading quizzes during ~half the semester. The readings were sometimes long, but usually skimming was enough to complete the quizzes. There was also an engagement grade, which Dr. Lu liked to describe as “would this class have been the same without you?” As long as you showed your cared about the course content and weren't a dick to anybody, you would have been fine.
