Applied Contextual Leadership; Foundations in Student Affairs Practice and Leadership
The University of Maryland (UMD), College Park, Higher Education, Student Affairs, and International Education Policy (HESI), Student Affairs Concentration (SAC) program is offering a course for undergraduate students titled HESI 318B Foundations in Student Affairs Practice and Leadership. Also, interested non-degree seeking student affairs professionals are invited to join the class. This introductory course will expose participants to historical contexts, functional areas institutional type and context as well as current hot topics in the field. Using professional competencies and ethics which guide the ever- changing landscape of student affairs and higher education, students will gain a working knowledge of basic elements of the field through discussions, case-studies, and hands-on exploration in a fast paced online course.
