Special Topics in History; Public Interpretations of African American History
This course analyzes public interpretations of African American history, considering the ways in which museums, historic sites, films, children's books, social media, and public school lesson plans have interpreted African American history. Students will also learn the core themes of public history such as shared authority, memory, ethical frameworks, and the practice of history in public spaces.
