Introduction to Peer Innovation Coaching

Restriction: Permission of Academy for Innovation and Entrepreneurship. Credit only granted for: IDEA247 or IDEA250. Formerly: IDEA250. Additional information: Learn more about this course at https://go.umd.edu/PICapp. Learn design thinking tools and mindsets to create change in meaningful ways, develop an ability to coach others, and cultivate your curiosity in this dynamic, hands-on course. You'll encounter new approaches to learning from others, synthesizing qualitative data, visualizing your ideas, and navigating ambiguity (among others!) while working on a semester-long project using the design thinking process. This course will ultimately prepare you to be an Academy for Innovation and Entrepreneurship Peer Innovation Coach (PIC). PICs guide learners on campus across majors, departments, and groups, and off campus across industries and organizations to experiment with innovation mindsets, tools, and processes, like design thinking. PICs come from all programs and majors on campus, and learn how to use coaching as an effective change-making and leadership tool in their skill set. No prior experience or knowledge of design thinking or coaching is needed.
