Brooke is nice. The IDEA311 class is an easy 1-credit course that will help you learn more about what you want to do with your life. The course is called "Design Your Purpose." You complete weekly assignments that should never take more than 2 hours. The best part of this class is that it forces you to reflect on what you want to do in life and what you could pursue. We did assignments in something called the "Digital Design Notebook." Brooke was easily accessible via email, but there were never any in-person meetings. The coolest assignments we did were the ones where we had to find professionals in our fields of interest to interview. It was a great exercise in networking and building confidence. Also -- if you don't complete assignments in time it is OK since there are "regrade periods" where you can re-do assignments for full credit. This is a super easy, but helpful 1-credit course if you want to force yourself to think more about your future goals. |

Really confusing grading policy. she grade on her opinion. Very meaningless assignment. as a 1 credit class, too much workload. |

Brooke is a really nice person and a great teacher. I never had to ask for an extension because this course is very light, but I'm sure she'd be happy to oblige if you needed one. IDEA101 in general helped me figure out what I want to do at Maryland so I would definitely say it is worth your time if you want to get different resources and plan out what types of things to do at UMD, and if you can take it with Brooke! |
