Melissa is absolutely incredible. She is so funny and dedicated to her work. She requires you to read the scripts, write your thoughts on them, and then come to class for discussion, which is not a big ask for a course about scripts. The discussions are only good if you participate, so make sure you read the scripts before class and come ready with ideas and feelings to talk about. A boring class cannot be placed on her if the students do not read the scripts. She is very understanding and will work with you if you work with her. I would take another class with her in a heartbeat, she is amazing.

Professor Sturges is very nice and willing to give extensions/extra clarification on assignments if you talk to her. Every class is just a discussion of the play we are reading which I found a bit boring after the first few classes. We read about 7 plays, but you only needed to submit discussion posts about 5 of them. Assignments include discussion posts about the plays we read, a performance review of one of the TDPS shows/other theatre you saw, a Midterm paper discussing one of the plays (20%), "First 10 Lines" partner assignment (stage and perform the first 10 lines of the play), and a Dramaturgy File Final (30%). Attendance was not recorded each day, but an overall participation and engagement grade (15%) was given at the end of the semester.

So kind and caring. He worked to make sure we were not too stressed at any given time and canceled class when we needed it. Very easy class to succeed in as long as you read the plays.

Jenna is awesome, she's so passionate and very understanding. She has a high standard for her students, but is never negative or too critical. She made lessons very personal and interesting and even took time to talk about her current studies which brings fresh air to old coursework. I'd recommend taking her classes.
