(Fall 2024) What a king. Heavily discussion based class without too heavy of a workload. One play a week (or sometimes two very short ones), with a response due by class time. Most of class time is spent either on a lecture based on the textbook reading (which I highly recommend, but you don't really need to do if you take notes during the lecture) or a discussion about that week's play. Final project wasn't too bad either; I was able to knock it out in a day or two (given I spent most of the two days doing it.) He's got a very fun personality, and is so compassionate to everything going on with you, and in the world. Will give an extension as long as you ask. His play choices are interesting and I feel like I got something out of most of them (even if the something was anger/annoyance). I found the class to be a delightful new way to think about plays. |

Patrick is amazing! If you are a theatre major and need to take 223, I HIGHLY recommend taking it with him. The plays themselves are always interesting, and he opens up discussion about them often. Even if you don't like the particular reading for that week, there is still lots to be gained from the discussions. The workload itself isn't too bad, and as a professor he is very understanding and compassionate. I always found the class to be a great start to my morning, and I feel like a learned a lot. |
