Her classes are like hypnotic drugs. One assignment per week takes you a long time to complete, but she needs to spend 2-4 weeks giving you feedback. What's outrageous is that she gave us feedback on the last assignment half an hour before the final exam. By the way, she will drop down your grade. A waste of my time and money, I feel she is not qualified to teach at UMD.

A disorganized, unempathetic professor with unreasonable expectations. The worst professor I’ve had.

One of the least understanding professors. Unkind and overall a lack of care towards her students. She just mumbles to herself the entire class.

The absolute worst professor I’ve had in college. Both mean and unorganized.

Not a good professor. Not a good fit for QUEST.

While she is generally a nice person, she runs a very disorganized class. She grades unnecessarily harshly without giving any real expectations to students. She doesn't really engage the class at all and doesn't understand how to form relationships with students. She doesn't know enough about any of the projects to give any helpful advice. Not good.

Just not it. She has high expectations for students but not herself, and barely understands the work the students are doing. Literally asks students when assignments are due.

I'm currently taking her class, and I feel overwhelmed. The amount of assignments per week is insane, plus the fact that there is a lot of disorganization in the class structure. She will take weeks to upgrade your grade, and provide you with very little feedback. You will also be working on a lot of group assignments, so make sure you choose the right teammates.

Dr. Bardossy is such a pleasant and smart teacher! She's very dedicated to her students and makes sure everyone knows what's going on as she goes through examples in class. Pre-application day quizzes are easy, especially if you read the textbook. I'd recommend reading the textbook for the first part of the semester, because it's foundational content that you'll need to know. The textbook is expensive, but it is worthwhile because you'll likely refer to it in the future if you work in operations management. Application days can be tricky, but Dr. Bardossy and the TA will help when you need it. Just make sure to follow along and review the examples gone over in class, since that's often the most important part. Indvidual homework assignments are very time-consuming; I probably spent 3-8 hours on each of them (8), because of the detail and knowledge required for solving. That being said, I never really minded spending that much time on them because the solving process is genuinely interesting. Hands-on quizzes (online; timed) were stressful but not really that hard if you know what you're doing based off the previous assignments and examples. Exams (cumulative; limited notes permitted) were super easy and predictable. I studied for a few hours for each one and got A+ on both. The handwritten notes aren't even needed if you pay attention in class and do the assignments. Overall, I really enjoyed this course. It feels like there's a time crunch in the last few weeks of class, because Dr. Bardossy covers some very broad material very quickly (such as Simulation), but that can't be helped. Some of her explanations are hard to understand, but that's because there are concepts you have to truly "get". This was definitely one of my favorite courses! 4/5 because of the huge time commitment—although that's unavoidable with this type of course content—and sometimes confusing explanations for harder topics.

Very nice woman and not that hard of a class, but mind numbingly boring and she didn't seem to be prepared/know how to do everything sometimes.

Hard class. Was not adjusted well for a pandemic and varied engagement levels. Tasks seemed endless, although if you stayed on par with some of the stuff you certainly get something out of it. Her class was one of you get out of it what you put into it. Problem is that during an online semester, encouraging several difficult group projects and relatively strict grading (mainly for the group projects) can be demoralizing. By the end I didn't have much reason to do more than the bare minimum despite knowing what I could get out of it. She is very smart, and you can pick up what she says if you pay attention, but it is pretty draining if you stay with the entire lecture and give the appropriate efforts to the group projects. Overall well designed class, far too much work though.

This class was one of the most time consuming and stressful classes I have ever taken. We had an open ended and complex group project once a week while also having long HWs throughout the semester. She is very nice, but her teaching is not on par with her expectations. She is very smart, but is not great at explaining her thoughts. Overall, do not take this class unless you want to be working on nonstop group projects that are very difficult.

A lot of work. A couple of presentations a month, in the first half of the semester, but huge presentations weekly near the end of the semester. On top of the presentations, there's a lot of other homeworks/quizzes/readings/busy work sprinkled in. For the first few presentations, the TA and guest lecturers tried to wear you down, piss you off, and throw you off your game. Additionally, the presentations would be on extremely vague cases with little to no guidance. With a couple of weeks left in this semester, I can confidently say that I haven't learned anything yet. Her lectures are the hardest things to sit through, and I have not understood a single thought she has tried to convey. I really don't know why she's teaching.

She is really not that bad. Yes, her classes are dull and a bit confusing at times, but her class is very easy and she is very nice. I currently have a 100.2% in her class because she allowed us to use a sheet of paper on the midterm. Despite being confused about the content of the course toward the beginning, she has made it very clear what we need to know for our quizzes and exams.

I have been in this class for over a month and a half and all we have learned is how to count. Bardossy is clueless when it comes to this course. She has no idea what she is doing and it shows. We have an exam next week and no one has any idea what is going to be on it. I can't even put an expected grade because I have no clue what she is going to grade, or how her exam is going to go. Take this class if you like busy work and a professor that doesn't know what she's doing. Only reason I gave her two stars instead on one is because she's a nice person.

Wow. Just wow. I'm currently typing this review in class as we have waited 10 minutes for one of her "simulations" to work. Events like this happen on a daily basis. We are currently in the 6th week a school and have not learned anything. No one knows how to do any of the content or assignments and we are not told how to do any of it. Heavy accent makes powerpoint lectures(once a week) hard to understand and the powerpoints themselves are in broken english(not a rag but its hard to learn if you can't understand any of the content). The course has no structure aside from barely following the book assigned to the class. Based off the readings, the powerponts probably cover about 50% of the book chapters and then 10% of that is actually taught to us as receivable information. This all may come off as angry or bitter but all of it is true. I'm not even complaining about my grade, I currently have a 95% and I barely do anything. We have an exam next week which I'm sure will tank me(and the class) as we aren't being told what is on it/the format/or given anything to study from. Head these warnings and don't just take them as some "random person's biased views"; DO NOT TAKE ANY CLASS WITH MARIA BARDOSSY. I'm sorry but she is totally unfit to be teaching anyone.
