She was nice and not really much different than any other creative writing workshop teacher. Her feedback was good, the assignments felt productive and beneficial, and she had a fun personality and was funny so that helped such a long class (mine was 2.5 hours once a week) be more interesting. |

She was nice, and the course was pretty easy. There were very few assignments. However, she was not very responsive and took too long to grade. Towards the end of the semester, she graded many of the assignments which left students unsure about their grades for most of the semester. |

Not that much writing to do. Two things are due every week but most of the time it was just a discussion post. There was a paper, infographic, resume, and eportfolio throughout the semester. She does accept late assignments most of the time. She was not very clear with her grading and took a long time to grade the assignments. |

She was very kind and a great professor to have. One thing I really liked was how organized the class was: the weekly assignments were consistent and you know what you need to do. You can tell she is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about the subject, and I would 10/10 recommend people to take this course with her. |

Oh damn, she's not teaching here anymore? That sucks. She's a great professor honestly. The cons are that she took a long time to grade stuff but that's all I can think about. We took this class for one night a week for a semester for 3 hours and somehow it was not an insufferable experience. She gave us everything we needed to know each week for a month and we had like 5 writing assignments due. She gave us full autonomy over what we could write, as long as we stuck to a general "theme", which I loved. She also taught us some insider secrets and unspoken rules, like reading the room before revealing your pronouns and how you can actually be too informal in applications and you should "match their tone". That sounds like common sense but there's actually a lot of hidden details in navigating healthcare applications. It was one of my favorite classes here at UMD. |

She is a true professional, yet caring and intellectual. Don't worry about grades because she cares more about your ideas and understanding of the assignment. She truly cares about the writing process and the success of her students. She made her classroom feel like a space where we could learn and be ourselves. I would totally love to have her for professional writing after taking ENGL101 with her! |

I didn't like her at first because she graded the first assignment pretty harshly in my opinion and then she took forever to grade everything else (we only had one major assignment in canvas until 2 weeks before the semester ended). But she graded the other assignments pretty easily and quickly after the 1st one. You can tell she cares a lot about English and is a very nice professor; she'll answer any questions you have and has office hours available by appointment. She's flexible with stuff like word count and page length; she told us at the beginning of the class that she doesn't care as long as you hit all the points of the assignment. Attendance is not mandatory but classes aren't recorded and you need to be there to understand what she wants for each assignment. We had readings before each class, but you'd be fine as long as you skim over them. We have one 8-10 page paper that was a pain, but it was doable. The final is a 15 minute ted talk that can be about anything (one group talked about how pineapple should be on pizza) and is not graded on presentation skills. Overall is a great teacher and makes English bearable even though I don't like it, just took a while to grade stuff. Would highly recommend (I gave her a 4/5 only because of the time she took to grade). |
