In the classroom setting, Prof. Fisher is a great instructor that engages her students and connects new content to concepts that we've previously discussed. However, the assignments are very unrealistic for the degree of which this course is taken for. Students on average are asked to complete up to 6 hours of course work per week and the assignments are graded harshly. Pop quizzes are distributed frequently and entered into the grade book when the majority of the class fails. Her office hours are helpful, but from my experience, what she instructs in office hours and agrees upon being acceptable for the assignments, is not the same outcome you receive when the assignment is graded. Rubrics are unclear at times and material presented in class is not posted in canvas for the student to review. Additionally, the required course materials are her published work. Most websites sell her textbooks at an overpriced rate and are not easy to acquire from the UMD bookstore. Certain things made Prof. Fisher's class enjoyable, but overall I would not recommend this course as the workload is not ideal for the two credit course.

Compared to the other course (248U) you can take for this cluster, this class is a lot more work. Most of your grade comes from two projects that are designed entirely by you and your partner, plus a presentation and paper. Dr. Fisher is great at office hours and I really like her as a person, but she grades harshly as she seems to grade based off of her own writing style. Make sure to go to office hours if you take this class!

The course was unnecessarily stressful - not even because of the material, it was just because of the professor. Avoid and take something else.
