Constance Ford JOUR471 Expecting a B- Anonymous 11/07/2023	Probably the worst professor at the whole school. She has a serious attitude problem and is super condescending. I don’t know why UMD hires this woman.
Constance Ford JOUR455 Expecting a D- Anonymous 05/14/2023	Avoid this instructor at all costs!! If I could give less than a 1 I would. I had hopes for this class to give me ideas beyond working for a large corporate media conglomerate. The instructor is what ruined this class for me. While she has 30 years at a large corporation writing for business she has not started or helped to start a business. She had slides to show but skipped some or couldn’t answer questions asked about them because they weren’t her slides and she told us so. I don’t know why a college professor wouldn’t not read them first or cut out what isn’t important? She couldn’t figure out how to have her guests zoom in for the conference style classroom that is set up for it and had us login our own laptops while she was in her office. She couldn’t help a student with no laptop log into the desktops in the room so she had to look at someone else’s computer. She’s got one or two very obvious favorites who she oooh and aahs over and everyone else gets attitude and dismissive, demeaning remarks if you get anything at all. My final business plans had 10 pages and 2 pages of sources and I got a 70 bc she didn’t believe one of the numbers I sites from a very credible source. I think she’s kept at the college bc she has connections but she’s not cut out to teach. I learning nothing from her and a little from the guests but that was due to the interactions and questions they answered and not from the instructor. The assignment I got a decent grade on was my final pitch and that was due to another professor being brought in and giving his input. The class also voted and ranked final pitches and that may have helped out. All in all, if she doesn’t like you on day one don’t expect to get a good grade or get any help. I’ve never wanted to get out of class so fast or felt so frustrated with an instructor. Criticism is never constructive or informative. I learned nothing from this class and think she should be banned from teaching. If she was my boss in the news industry I would ask for a new beat or find a new job.
Constance Ford JOUR201 Expecting a C+ Anonymous 05/12/2023	If I could give Constance Ford no stars, I would. Never in my entire 15 years of education have I ever had an instructor who was so bad and useless at their job. Educators are supposed help students understand the content, offer feedback that improves students' work and provide a supportive environment. None of that was true with Constance Ford. She gave critical feedback that offered no routes of improvement, was unsupportive of students and had an arbitrary grading system. Most importantly, she was just plain mean and rude. I would have really enjoyed this class and I think I would have learned much more if I wasn't so miserable in class every day. I often turned in assignments knowing I tried my best but was aware I would receive a poor grade regardless. I grew apathetic towards my work and felt there was no way for me to do better. Furthermore, Ford came late to class, left early while she expected us to finish in-class assignments and poorly communicated assignment requirements. This made it even more difficult to succeed in her class. I know other students in my class have the same struggles and frustrations. I think we all really missed out on our JOUR201 experience due to Ford's behavior and attitude.

Constance Ford JOUR201 Expecting a B Anonymous 04/14/2023	Constance Ford is the one of worst and one of the rudest professors I will ever have. Entering this class I did not pay attention to professor scores because I figured that Merrill had all good professors. I was wrong. Ford always shows up to class late, yet when a student arrives late she will make a chiding remark in from of the whole class about it. She gives little to no comments when grading assignments, making it hard to understand what to correct. Many times I receive a 75 or below on an assignment, she will leave only one note about what was wrong with it, usually only about the lede, which apparently will knock off an automatic 20% from your grade. Another time I remember I got a 70 on an assignment, yet the only in-text comments she left were in the first paragraph of a 5+ paragraph article. When she does give comments, she does it in a rude and demeaning tone, such as using all caps which is one of her favorites. While one will most likely earn a B with effort put in, it is not worth the mental and emotional stress. Don't make the same mistake I did and don't register for her courses.
Constance Ford JOUR201 Expecting a B Anonymous 03/09/2023	Professor Ford is one of the rudest, most callous individuals I have ever encountered in my years of higher education. She constantly arrives late to class without due notice or genuine apology, provides little constructive criticism when grading assignments, and lambasts her students whenever they slip under her harsh regimen of expectations. Although I do hold a level of respect for the height of profession she has accomplished during the course of her journalistic career, it will never make up for the fact that she is absolutely dreadful to learn under. I PROMISE you, it is better to take this class elsewhere or with another professor. My classmates and I are jointly suffering under her authoritative, tyrannical method of "teaching."
Constance Ford JOUR455 Expecting an A Anonymous 10/20/2022	Constance is one of the most cruel, nasty, malicious humans let alone professor I have ever dealt with. Her method of teaching is barating her students with hurtful and unconstructive criticism. Never in my LIFE have I had a professor make me cry and constance has done it twice in my first 6 weeks. I STRONGLY recommend you do not take her course, and I think that she should be removed from the university as a whole. Regarding the class, it is not hard at all and I should finish with an A, but that is not worth the profound emotional trauma she puts her students trough. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS.
Constance Ford JOUR455 Anonymous 10/18/2021	The class: minimal work, mostly lectures and guest speakers. The grading process: expect to receive average grades with very little comment on how to improve or where you went wrong, weeks after submitting. Also, she seems to give her favorite students better grades. The professor: Constance is condescending, almost mean and rude. She doesn't come prepared for class but will heavily scrutinize when your work isn't perfect. She is egotistical and talks down to her students. I often left this class irritated; many students complain about her class structure and demeanor.
