Does not review assignment expectation effectively, and is a horrible grader. Midterms were not graded till last month of semester, and final was assigned the week before official finals. Assignments completed during first half of semester still have not been graded. |

For a user centered design course, the class wasn’t very user friendly. ELMS page was very disorganized and assignments had ambiguous directions. The lectures were boring as she just read off her PowerPoint slides but even the slides can be confusing sometimes. I passed without going to most lectures but you could understand more if you do go to lectures. Grade really hinges on your semester long project so be sure you have a good group. She seemed nice and the TAs were somewhat useful though. |

Horrible class structure. The fact the midterm was graded so late and that assignment guidelines were not released early was really frustrating. Also crazy that the final exam, was scheduled before the final exam period, I have classes DURING the same day of the final exam, so you need good time management. |

Does not seem to know how to operated ELMS effectively. Does not release assignments with details about expectations for the assignment until a few days before they are due. Does not know how to use a microphone to make up for excessive plosives. I needed to wear noice cancelling headphones through most classes to not be in pain. Midterm was not graded until the final. Would never take a class from her again if given the option. |

Ge Gao is an extremely knowledgeable professor who is literally a golden gem when it comes to how much information she knows. For this course, the lectures were pretty long but also VERY informative. Coursework requires a bit of thinking and she can ask some thought-provoking questions so be prepared to think but have fun. She's not gonna hold it against you or anything like that, haha! I really do believe that this course holds up really well as a core class due to how informative it is. I did find myself using most of the skills taught here in the UXTerps Info Challenge Design event. Not sure if I'll use it in the real-world as much depending on what I go into (Data) but I can really see the skills in this course being used in markets where a product is everything to them. Also, I would highly recommend finding a GOOD group quickly as your group will be with you throughout the entire semester. |
