Dr. Gruber is fantastic. He is very thorough with his teaching and really cares for his students. He is also pretty lenient with grading and makes sure that we understand the concepts. Highly recommend. |

One of the best professors ever! All his exams were weighted the same which took a lot of pressure off performing super well on the final like for most math classes. He was super flexible with homework and quizzes (ie extending hw due dates and going over the concepts more with us if he felt like we didn't spend enough time on them, and letting the entire class redo a quiz because everyone did bad on it) (also out of the weekly(ish) quizzes, about half were group quizzes—so we got to collaborate on them). He really worked to help us make sure we understood the more complex topics and was always willing to explain it! |

Dr. G is one of the best professors I've had so far! He's very kind and cares a lot about his students succeeding in class. All of the exams (including the final) were 15% each so the final wasn't weighted as much! Also, he goes over a couple of homework questions in class in case some students are struggling on the hws. He provides a lot of help during office hours and is very patient with explaining complex concepts. Overall, I would highly recommend taking Dr. G! |

One of the BEST math teachers you can take at the University. He is kind and caring for all of his students. He provides homework extensions when you ask and answers your questions with no shame attached. There was a total of 3 exams comprising of 2 midterms and 1 final, each weighted the same. There are 1-2 weekly homework assignment(s). There are a handful of quizzes that he prepares ahead of time. I suggest not to sleep on the final, as the grading is split among TAs and teachers within the department, thus grading might be different compared to the 2 midterms. I highly suggest taking Dr. Gruber for ANY math class. |

Very good teacher, but more importantly, genuinely cares about his students. Final is only worth 15% of your grade so it won’t screw you over completely. Patient and willing to explain things as many times as needed to make sure you understand. Sent out an email before finals to check up on everyone and remind us that we’re more than a letter grade. Genuinely a good guy and an awesome teacher. |

DR G IS AMAZING!!!!!! He is super kind and cares about his class. I was in the honors Calc 2 so it made it easier to ask questions (smaller class) which he always took time to answer. The quizzes were always straight forward and we even had a few group ones, plus he drops one. The WebAssigns were annoying but he doesn't choose them so whatever, but he dropped two!! Best part for sure is the exams: two midterms, weighted each 15% and the final was also 15% so it didn't destroy your grade if you failed (I got a 55 on the final and still got an A-). He also had bonus points for the midterms to bring your grade up and he curved the final by a bit too, bringing me from a B+ to an A-. Take him 100% he is such an incredible professor!!! |

I took Dr. Gruber for MATH 120 and he is easily the best professor I have had so far. Exams are very similar to practice exams so as long as u understand that u should easily get over 90% on each. He’s such a cutie and very understanding of the classes needs. Sometimes the HW could be a little challenging but not bad at all. Take Dr. Gruber!! |

I have had Dr. G for two semesters now and I highly recommend taking any of his math classes. Math is never easy but he does a good job explaining. He's very patient and is always willing to take time out of his day to work with you. He drops the lowest quiz grade and homework grade and each exam (including final) is only worth 15% so it really helps eases your nerves. There's a decent amount of homework but it's not overwhelming at all. It's great though because it will cushion your grade so if you do bad on one exam it's impossible to fail. I ended both semesters with an A+ and I am not even good at math. |

Ended MATH113 with a C- and was told I'd likely fail MATH120. Not true! Dr. G is the goat. Math has never been so easy before. He goes thoroughly over the content and is always open for questions. Was never good at math, but surprisingly did very well in this class. Cares a lot about his students and provides a lot of resources. Quizzes were a breeze and only two midterms and one final. |

Dr. G was overall a great teacher, very caring for his students, and willing to spend time during class and after explaining the harder concepts. He also tries to make the class as easy as possible, at least during my class he was trying to convince other professors to make the final fewer questions to make it easier. During exams, the reviews were very similar to the actual exams and he didn't try to give the hardest problems or trick questions. Also, he gave us an extra credit opportunity for both exams which you could get 4% back. He also recorded lecture which was nice. A couple of things I didn't like was that he did very few practice problems during the lecture only 2 or 3 after going through definitions, he often chose the hardest types of problems to work through instead of going through a lot of examples. ***Also please study the honors final practice paper (about 12 questions) there were a few on the final that were exactly the same and only the honors sections got it.*** On the topic of Math141H vs Math141 I would definitely go with honors. The tests were much easier, we had extra credit, a smaller class size, and only 3 classes a day. Also, I knew many people taking Math141H with Sana Jahedi and she was also really good, often honors professors are better because they care more. We did have a quiz (half of them were group quizzes) every Wednesday which were kind of hard if you didn't keep up well with the material. But if you make friends who are smart it is a lot easier. One more thing, the grade distribution for our class was awesome, an A was 90% and this was with the average in our class being around a B+. |

Dr. G is the best 310 professor without a doubt. He is an amazing and caring professor who wants everyone to succeed in his class and in future classes. His exams were fair and the quizzes and homework helped a ton. Part of what makes him a great professor is he has a PhD in Math Education, so he understands the concepts very well and understands how to teach students. My only complaint is I cannot take him for every class. |

The best math teacher I have ever taken in my entire life. He really cares about his students and takes his time to answer student questions. He drops your lowest quiz grade and the lowest 2 homework's. The exams are basically the exact same material on the review material so just study that and you'll get an A. |

As a student in his class, I have been impressed by his soft-spoken demeanor, which creates a welcoming and conducive learning environment. His ability to break down complex mathematical concepts into digestible parts makes it easier for students to understand and excel in their studies. Dr. Gruber is a skilled teacher and an intelligent individual who consistently demonstrates a deep understanding of the subject matter. He is always willing to go the extra mile to help students grasp difficult concepts and is dedicated to their academic success. Beyond his role as a teacher, he is a great person. He is approachable, kind, and supportive of his students' personal and academic growth. |

Dr.G is literally the GOAT! This is by far the easiest math class I have EVER taken-and this is CALC 1. He drops your lowest quiz grade and he wants ALL and I do mean ALL of his students to understand and exceed in this course. His exams only consist of 2-4 problems which is literally a godsend-they shouldnt take you more than 10-30 min to complete. Its an easy A as long as you show up to class and pay attention. I would recommend befriending other people in the class if you have questions, as his office hours are literally ALWAYS booked. The TA's are also great-I had Francis and we had 30 mins with him before any quiz to review any content we didnt understand. Sure sometimes the whole lecture would be used on 2-3 problems, but thats usually because a lot of people might have questions and the problems get interrupted. The final is structured a little bit different than the exams bc the math dept. creates it but if he feels the questions were unfair to students or it was impossible to complete the exam in the alloted time he WILL fight for his students. I literally cannot say enough about this guy. 12/10 I would give him 100 out of 5 stars if I could. You're an idiot if you dont take Dr.G for ANY math! |

Professor Gruber is great! Very easy to follow along with and well structured class. His tests are decently similar to the reviews. He can be super slow during lectures at times but I would prefer a slow professor over a fast professor. The TA's were pretty mediocre and didn't make much of an impact but were ok. He also gives an extra credit opportunity which is very helpful. I would definitely take his class over other professors! |

G is one of the best professors at UMD. he is truly the man. it's extremely rare to find a professor as caring, logical, and dedicated as Dr. Gruber. super approachable guy, makes all his content/resources helpful/accessible, and works with the class to make sure everything is fair and understandable. you will not regret taking a course with the goat himself! |

Dr. Gruber is seriously one of the best educators I have had in my entire life!!! He is very patient with the class and will go into thorough explanation on any questions you might have. He constantly asks for feedback and checks in with the class to see if everyone is understanding. It is very evident that he wants the entire class to succeed. Quizzes directly aligned with the lecture content. Exams directly aligned with practice exams. I cannot recommend Dr. Gruber enough! Math 120 was excellent with him! |

Dr. Gruber is one of the best instructors I've ever had! He really seems to care that his students understand the course material and is always open to answering questions. If I hadn't waited until the last minute to take the required GenEd math, I would have been less intimidated to do one of the more math-intensive majors. |

When it comes to math, I don't have the strongest skills. It's very hard for me to learn material in just two weeks, but I need this course, so I gave it special attention. Unlike high school, where you study the same unit for a week or two, here it's different, so adjusting to that has not been easy at all. I read some reviews about Dr. Gruber. Intentionally, I wanted a different professor, but it didn't work out, so Dr.Gruber was my second choice, and I decided to register with him. He is in fact, the best professor ever to teach you math, in my opinion. He is very understanding, super smart, and passionate about math. You can tell from the way he teaches that he TRULY CARES for his students, shows great interest, and I can go all and all. To be successful in this class, as the unit goes fast, you need to spend some time outside of class reviewing the material yourself. Before and after reviewing the chapter in the textbook you will be taught, it helps a lot. Attend office hours if you are confused. Attend discussions and do your homework regularly. It helps you prepare for the quiz and exam. And most importantly, if you are someone who struggles with math, it is extremely important to attend lectures regularly if you have no valid excuses to not attend. Ask questions when you are confused. Dr.Gruber is always happy and ready to help. great class, and I HIGHLY recommend taking him. |

He is so nice and a really great teacher, reminds me your favorite high school teacher. Super forgiving/flexible with assignments and is always looking for constructive criticism to improve his teaching and the class itself. The tests are like 6 questions and very easy/straightforward. Very easy to get an A in this class if you put a good amount effort in. There is weekly homework which is not too bad. The only thing is his lectures are very slow and we only really get through like 1 or 2 problems per class-- which can be annoying/boring and I stopped going to lectures after a while (although most lectures are recorded on Panopto). Discussions revolve around in class quizzes and assignments, but no attendance is taken. Overall I would highly recommend him, especially if you're not as familiar with Calc. |

He is such an amazing guy. He drops your lowest quiz grade, and the final is only worth 15% of your final grade. Also, he is super understanding and is willing to do anything to make his students' lives easier. One con is that he could sometimes spend an entire class on one or 2 problems. His tests are very similar to his practice tests. The only issue was the final- since it was standardized across all of the math115 classes it was much harder than anything he had ever taught us in class. But he took that into account and made sure the final didn't hurt everyone's grades. I would take this professor if you get the chance. He's such a great guy and really deeply cares about his students. |

Dr. G is probably the best educator I have ever had in my life. He truly cares for his students and always is asking the class if they have any questions. Since I was in an honors class, the class size was very small which made it much easier to ask questions and work with people. He does multiple group quizzes which help boost your grade. He is a very understanding guy., so if there are any personal conflicts with assignments, he is very accommodating and open to figure something out. Regarding the classwork itself though, it is a HARD class. Calc 2 here is a very hard class in general since you're introduced into the topics very quickly and with advanced examples. If I didn't have Dr. G as a Professor I would definitely be failing the class. As long as you dedicate A LOT of time to studying, you should score decently on the exams and quizzes. Many other people in this class had high A's and some B's, but I struggle with math so the quizzes and exams were harder in my opinion. If you aren't the strongest math person, I would recommend a regular 141 class just because Dr. G doesn't curve tests. Overall, if Dr. G is an option for any of your classes, TAKE HIM 100%. Genuinely such a great person and would definetly take one of his classes again. |

Dr. G will be the most chill math teacher you'll ever have. I slept in and was 20 minutes late to a quiz and he let me take it with extra time. He explains content really well and is always willing to answer questions. His homework's were not bad and really helped with learning the content. One thing he could do better is help prepare for the tests more. I found his tests pretty easy but others didn't. Highly recommend Dr. G! |

Dr. G is one of the best math teachers I have ever had! He genuinely cares that his students do well in class and is willing to spend time in and out of class to ensure this. His teaching style is very active and involves a lot of discussion with other students to understand the intuition behind concepts, a strategy that significantly improves a student's understanding of a topic. He is also incredible at explaining things and will gladly spend time diving deep into a topic. I absolutely recommend taking Dr. G's class! |

Mr. Gruber is a very nice and understanding teacher, he is a fairly good lecturer and he answers students questions when they have any. As an honors course, we had a small class size and class room so it made it a lot more intimate and easier to talk to him. There were a couple times in the class where he made mistakes or explained a concept strangely, but 97% of the time it was good. It is fairly hard to pay attention to him I will admit, and calc 2 isn't super-exciting to begin with. |

Mr. G is very helpful! I dread and hate geometry, but his style of teaching made it bearable. Everything is pretty routine in his class, you know what you have to do for the day and you'll get a good grade if you do it. He's also an excellent teacher and great at explaining things in a different way if you didn't understand it. As an added bonus, he has an extremely soothing voice and presence. All around great guy and great teacher, take Mr. G!! |
