I enjoyed Dr Hageman's class! I think a lot of the negative reviews are from people who wanted a braindead gen-ed and were disappointed when they actually had to participate. If you care even a little about her class, you'll see that she is a good professor. She is very understanding and communicative. The class was also not hard, I don't know why some people think that. It was one 300 word paper a week and some readings. The final project was the only problem, as some directions were a little unclear, but I think that was mostly from our TA confusing us (not to shit on her but still). Overall, would recommend. |

AMST101 is super easy work wise, but the group project at the end can be super frustrating, especially if your group isn't communicative. Dr. Hageman always came to class unprepared -- she didn't read the slideshow before coming to class, and that was evident when she tried to explain the material. She was extremely disorganized and did not teach anything that I didn't already know. In my opinion, Dr. Hageman taught this class as if we were in middle school, which made it difficult to pay attention (it's not very advanced). Attendance is mandatory as an attendance sheet is passed around every class and is a pretty big part of your participation grade. Overall, this class was easy, but I would NOT recommend taking it with Dr. Hageman. If she is the only one teaching it, I would look for a different class that fulfills the humanities and diversity gen eds. |

Class is a kinda of a lot of work for what i thought was an easy gen ed. Weekly papers but they're super informal so its not that bad. The final project is hellish, so much work for no good reason and she does not make it very clear what is expected. Also she says um so many times its a little insufferable. But I'm also just complaining like the class was not that bad but you do have to show up and do the work so I'm sure there's an easier class. Her lectures are pretty useless but attendance is taken. Super nice though never had issues with her personally. |

Honestly a really nice professor who's passionate about the subject. The work is really easy (most assignments apart from the midterm and group projects have taken less than thirty minutes). She's also pretty lenient with how many assignments you can miss, but if you manage to not miss any and show up to all your lectures you're pretty much guaranteed an A, minimum. |

She seems nice and the class is chill but it's super boring for the topic. I wanted this to be a fun elective but i find myself almost falling asleep. She doesn't seem that personable to students and the class is not the most organized. |

The class is heavily discussion-based, so there are a lot of class and group discussions. The class itself is pretty chill, there are some readings each week and larger projects every 2 weeks or so. The class is easy to do well in, although it's very awkward when no one participates in the discussions because no one did the readings. The projects aren't bad as she usually gives you enough time to work on them and usually lets you choose what you want to make them on, so you get a lot of creative liberty. The final is also just a more in-depth version of one of your smaller projects, so there are no exams to worry about. Professor Hageman is also really knowledgeable, and she's very understanding, so if you're ever having issues with the class just talk to her. The class itself is not that hard, and if you're interested in these topics, then you can definitely get a lot out of the class. The only issue I had was that the class was a bit disorganized, and she sometimes didn't post assignments or readings until the night before, but it wasn't a huge issue that would impact my grade or anything. |

Professor Hageman isn't too bad. The class isn't that difficult, it's a standard Gen Ed. The only thing I'd point out is that she's a little unspecific when it comes to rubrics and such. Other than that, she's a good professor. |

Took this class as a GENED and I believe that I got a lot out of it. We discuss a huge range of topics including systemic racism, accessibility, and material culture. You will do well in the class if you are in attendance, participate, and do the response papers every week (very simple, 400 word responses). There are usually weekly readings, however I was usually pressed for time and skimmed most of them or read a summary and still have a 100% in the class. I really enjoy discussing the topics in class, but a lot of students are reluctant to raise their hands and participate. She also provides a huge amount of extra credit opportunities such as participating a lot, attending guest speakers at the university, and uploading your notes for classmates on ELMS. The midterm was a paper and the final was a group project. Overall not a difficult class and I think it discusses a lot of topics that are very prevalent today. |

Hageman was very nice, personable and funny. I enjoyed having her as a professor. The assignments were fun and manageable. I would recommended this professor. |
