I honestly can't imagine giving this man anything higher than two stars, and that's being generous because he's a nice guy outside of class. This was one of the worst classes I've ever taken in my life. He reads off the slides and honestly seems like he's never seen them before. He didn't follow the syllabus and updated it one month before the semester ended to account for all the in-class quizzes (open note) and class discussions he didn't give us. He got behind in the lectures and then we had to do the labs for content we hadn't covered. There is almost nothing to study off for the exams. The group project presentation is completely pointless because there is no relevance to the class, but I guess the extra points can help. Everything about this class just angered me.

This course is not a difficult course and the content can be really interesting however the professor sadly did make it sour for a number of us. If you think this professor will be empathetic towards you, kill that thought before taking this class (not that you should expect any support from professors to begin with....sad right?). Now, while their methods of teaching the class are understandable--that is if you squint and do a backflip-- it does not work in ensuring the students actually engage with the class or master the content. You will have to put in the work for a good grade in this class (duh!) but do not expect any grace from this professor because you won't get it no matter your unusual circumstance. And for someone who likes to adhere to "school policy" it was funny watching how we did not even adhere to the syllabus and instead had to change the assignments and grading structure towards the end of the semester. It is concerningly inconsiderate of the students grades in the class as well as their time, talk less of miscommunication from the lecture resources formatting to wording of crucial announcements concerning tests and due dates resulting in many students missing out on points towards their grade. it was extremely frustrating having your chances of a good grade warped by the professor's shortcomings and odd fixation with sticking to the way they do things instead of hearing their students out. See, no professor is perfect, but every professor is obligated to bettering themselves for their students sakes and I hope that this changes. I especially hope to see that he starts giving more resources to students to be able to study for exams because in this day and age we should know that practice makes better not simply review slides and slides of information. Of course as an engineer it is still your responsibility to problem solve for yourself however the mantle of problem solving doesn't only fall on the student but also the professor as well to ensure a quality education is recieved and that student's learning is truly reflected in their GPA on the peice of paper that they paper they pay thousands of dollars to get. anyways, if all goes well you'll enjoy the class but just some things to consider. teehee

Dr. Li runs a pretty straightforward class. Lectures are very clear and he post all the slides beforehand. This class does have 3 labs which weren't too bad. Exams were pretty straightforward and felt relevant to the lecture content, no surprises. The only downside to this class is the final group project which is an 8-page report (single spaced), and 10 min presentation. The actual requirements aren't that bad its just a lot of work and research, even in a group. I would recommend Dr. Li for this class.
