ENES220 Expecting an A- Anonymous 12/07/2024 |
We love Teng Li. He really cares about what you learn and wants everyone to succeed. He doesn't post notes or record, but he explains a lot of stuff really clearly and is willing to help you until you learn it. He's also very light on grading. I've gotten some stuff really wrong on questions, and he would give me so many points that I probably didn't deserve. The exams are all fair, and would absolutely recommend taking him if you want a kind, helpful professor. |

After reading reviews from his class I thought I was going to be in for a wild ride but to my surprise he has been excellent. While notes aren't posted and the lecture isn't recorded, so attendance is essentially mandatory, he explains the concepts to the level of understanding that you need to be successful in the course. Not like some other professors that like to show off their skills with completely unrelated tangents. He uses lots of diagrams and charts and points out where in the textbook we will need for the HW saving lots of time on the already painful problem sets. As mentioned in some other reviews, Li's grading is extremely light to go onto of the already straight forward exams. Even with the lenient grading, he will still take regrades and give significant points back. My only big issue in his class was a few times we would get content on a hw and wouldn't know how to do it because we didn't get to it in lecture and would either have to read that section of the textbook or he would sometimes lecture for 30 mins to and hour during the groupwork time block. |

Walked into this class expecting absolute hell based on my experience with ENES102, but tbh Prof Li is great. After a string of bad professors, Prof Li's teaching style is miles ahead of any other experience I've had. He does a pretty good job of carefully explaining examples and usually gave us everything we needed for homeworks. One thing I will warn is that sometimes he can be a little behind in teaching concepts, and sometimes he would teach a concept that we would see on our homework that day that it was due. I never really had an issue with this, but I would suggest taking a look at the textbook if you need further explanation, a lot of homework problems are similar to examples in the textbook! Oh, another thing, grading with him is extremely kind, and I would argue he is an extremely light grader with exams. Our exams were fair even if you got the completely wrong value, as long as you demonstrate an understanding of the general process, you are set to get a decent grade. |

Took him in spring 2024 and he is a pretty funny guy. His teaching style is weird and didn't post notes online but he was forgiving in which he allow custom accommodations on exams because of external factors. |

Horrible lecturer and does not bother posting notes online. His notes are messy themselves. |

ENME400 Expecting a B+ Anonymous 12/25/2022 |
In regards to ENME 400, Dr. Li was not the best for this course. Dr. Li taught 400 similar to ENES 220 (mechanics 2), but that made the course more confusing. Dr. Li uses power points to cover content, but that was not the most beneficial as he sped through the content while students were writing stuff down still. Utilizing TA office hours was the best way to learn the content. Homework and group project assignments were hard, but the TAs were helpful. In regards to the project, if you have a bad group, it will be really hard to do well on it. BE SURE TO HAVE A GOOD GROUP! In regards to exams, Dr. Li's exams were easy as they mirrored his review sessions, but Dr. Li solves problems differently than how the homework would be solved. If possible, choose Dr. Thamire for ENME 400 to better understand the content for this course. |

Lectures aren't very engaging and he tends to go super fast through examples and theories. Class wasn't very hard if you make sure you understand the homework, studio problems, and practice exam problems. I studied a few days before each test and got an A. |
