Great at teaching, great person & very understanding. Homeworks are very relevant and not at all unfair, if at times difficult. I enjoyed this class a lot, and you can't go wrong with him if you really want to learn the material rigorously. Taking this class with Prof. Nguyen has reinvigorated my love for math and made me want to further pursue pure math, which is great because I had gotten bored with it a while ago. I wish I hadn't waited until my last year to take this class, so that I could have had more time to take 411 & the 600-levels with him. My one personal gripe is that the exams got too easy, and I was not even a particularly dedicated math student. Maybe he was trying to make the final grade distribution better this time, I don't know. There were 3 midterms and a final. The first midterm was the hardest exam, but it was not terrible. I guess he tried to compensate for the low-ish average by literally telling us before each of the next 3 exams that they would mostly just be homework questions. It seems a lot of students didn't heed this advice. Somehow, the score distributions did not improve, except for the 3rd midterm. He ended up adjusting the grade cutoffs a lot, too. |

Huy is by far the best math professor I’ve ever had. Real Analysis was a tough class for me, but his teaching style made it so much more manageable. I skipped MATH310 and I struggled very much early on (less than 50% on midterm 1 and 2) but I really turned things around with a high A on both midterm 3 and the final, which ended up curving to an A for the course. He’s super helpful during office hours, and instead of just giving you the answer, he gives little hints to guide you in the right direction. He really makes sure you understand the material, which is something I truly appreciated. He does move pretty fast in lecture, but he answers all questions and thoroughly explains the concepts. Plus, he posts solutions to everything after they are due. |

Love this guy. Funny and good explainer. Gave some interesting homework problems and made exams relatively low-stress. I highly recommend Huy! |

Excellent professor. I had him for MATH673 and MATH675. He is very friendly and helpful when you ask questions (both during office hours and during class). In office hours, instead of simply giving you the answer to your question and moving on, he'll make sure you understand why the answer is the way it is. For the best experience (this goes for any higher-level math class), I highly recommend learning all the material covered in each class beforehand and using class time and office hours to fill in the gaps. |

Great professor. Fills a lot of gaps in the text during his lectures. Kind and reasonable regarding exams. Tends to make the cutoff for material contained on the exam reasonable in that the cutoff will be material covered up to 1-2 weeks before the exam. Will also spend a lot of time in office hours with you answering questions and working through problems. Definitely one of the better analysis profs. |

Huy is an amazing professor! 411 is difficult (it was a lot more difficult for me than 410) and requires a lot of hard work, but he makes it very manageable. His lectures are organized and clear. He is always happy to pause and answer student questions and it's clear that he cares a lot about helping students. He gives one homework assignment a week with about 8 questions which summarize the lectures of the previous week, and office hours are very helpful for the homework and also for general understanding. Exams are fair and reflect homework assignments and practice exams. |

Dr. Nguyen is a great professor! I had him for both MATH410 and 411, which are important classes for going into higher level math, and his lectures are organized, and he involves the class as well. There's also enough humor to make it somewhat fun while still keeping it as professional as it needs to be. The homework assignments are difficult but reasonable, and he is great at helping if you're having any problems with the hw in office hours. The exams are also reasonable. I would 100% recommend taking 410/411 with him |

He is the best math 411 professor. He posts hw solutions and his office hours are very helpful. He cares students more than anyone in the dept. I’m getting B because I took 3 math classes including AMSC460 with no programming skills. Definitely, take him!! |

solid lecturer, knows his stuff, very good at explaining things and is great with office hours. however, he has Actual expectations so be prepared to learn, and moves pretty fast (I had tuesday thursday section with him). homeworks felt like they came by really fast. |
