Analysis of boundary value problems for Laplace's equation, initial value problems for the heat and wave equations. Fundamental solutions, maximum principles, energy methods. First order nonlinear PDE, conservation laws. Characteristics, shock formation, weak solutions. Distributions, Fourier transform. Offered fall only.
