I’m laughing reading all of the reviews for Professor Osorio because unfortunately as great as he is in passion and teaching, this class is unbelievably and unreasonably difficult for a 100 level class. Initially when looking at it you think to yourself, “oh, a Greek and mythology class this’ll be cool” but let me tell you that this class is absolute hell for how easy you’re expecting it to be. The exams are pretty damn hard for one, requiring pretty extensive knowledge and prior knowledge based off his asks for his students to read a TON. You have to know minute details within mythology stories and it becomes extremely difficult to study due to the mass amount of information in these long works - so difficult that most people did so bad on the exams he had to curve all of us. Don’t take this class, as cool as Osorio is his class is way too difficult.

DO NOT TAKE CLAS170 WITH HIM The class was NOT easy, and that's coming from someone who had a good grasp on the course info. There's a good amount of readings but the exams are VERY DIFFICULT, and it's the only thing you get graded on besides participation. He's nice and so are the professors but this was the hardest course I've taken this semester and it's a 100 level gen ed.

An interesting class, and even with a decent amount of knowledge on the subject of greek/roman myths, the exams/quizzes are so hard for no reason. Literally 4 grades are in right now, and they are the 2 quizzes and 2 exams, so if you do poor on the exams or quizzes, you are kind of screwed. Professor is easy to talk to and is willing to make compromises, but the exams are very very difficult, and it is a bit frustrating as many of the students are taking this course as a gen ed. Even as someone who attended all the lectures sees things on the exams that are definitely confusing. He allows you to bring the books we read to the exams so that is helpful/nice, but the reading is required, or at least a general understanding. Don't take this if you think this is an "easy gen-ed", if that is your expectation. (Ironically), I wish there more assignments, and maybe weekly quizzes on the assigned readings, as that would be helpful. Also, my TA means well, but does little to no in keeping the discussion engaged, and doesn't provide extra information that would be helpful, but I need all the participation credit I could get.

DO. NOT. TAKE. HIM. the class itself seems interesting and fairly easy until you get the exam and you have no clue what you are doing. i have studied HOURS AND HOURS for his exams and if you don’t know every single line of the epics you are practically screwed. for an 100 level gen ed class the exams should not be so specific and hard. he expects you to basically know everything and have prior knowledge which sucks because he seems like a nice guy and the TA’s are extremely nice, he just doesn’t understand that most people take this for their gen ed credit

Took CLAS322 as a gen-ed with a 15 credit course load. Peter is a great lecturer and is genuinely interested in the material. Essays were not too much work and graded fairly, in my opinion. There were a total of 5 quizzes, and he let us know what content was tested beforehand, so they were simple to study for. Slides are posted so you're not screwed if you miss class. He assigns readings, but also lectures about them, so if you miss a few (or... like... all of them... sorry Peter) you're fine. Very willing to talk to you one on one also.
