I took this class because I did band in high school and I thought it would be an easy way to meet my scholarship credit requirement. This class is mostly attending basketball games, where the pep band stands for most of the game. For a lot of the games I would sit for a while because I have an autoimmune disease that tires me out. As far as I am aware, it has never explicitly been a rule that the band has to stand the entire game. I still play the music when I am supposed to. The last basketball game, I was especially tired so I was sitting and reading a book on my phone for a lot of the game. I understand that maybe I shouldn't have been on my phone so much, but I have done this before and it has never been an issue. I have only ever seen him ask people in the first row to stand up, and he usually does so politely. However, Dr. Potter came up behind me and SCREAMED in my ear, "IF YOU AREN'T INVESTED IN THE GAME THEN LEAVE". I was considering joining other Maryland bands, but this has ruined my entire experience, so I will not be returning to pep band or any other Maryland band ever. Thank you Dr. Potter for your commitment to the Maryland Pep Band. I am certain the Maryland Men's Basketball team would be very thankful that you screamed in the ear of a teenage girl with an autoimmune disease on their behalf. |

Lovely lovely, Potter. He is not that great at the whole email thing or getting things in done in a timely manner, but he is a fun guy. I've enjoyed every class with him in it so far. |

Such a fun class. As someone who is not doing anything related to music for my career and just takes music classes for fun, this was a good one. Dr. Potter always has something fun to share, even if it takes him forever to get the syllabus up. |
