Pretty straightforward class. The exams are in person, but it's also open-note and on your computer. There are two writing assignments that are pretty doable. The second writing assignment is divided into three parts, the first draft, the final draft, and the presentation. I would recommend this gen-ed for anyone. This fulfills the DVUP, SCIS, and DSSP or DSNL (Your Choice). Dr. Presson and her TAs give out constructive feedback for each writing assignment. They are also very understanding, especially during the pandemic. Just try not to be late to labs. |

Was a little scared taking this class because of some of the bad reviews, but this class is one of the best geneds you can take. The exams are open note, and you were also allowed to use her lecture slides. There are only two writing assignments: a 3 page paraphrasing paper where you summarize an article and an 8 page paper on your own ancestry. Dr. Presson is very kind to her students, and is also a very flexible grader. Testudo says labs are 3 hours, but never went over 2. Overall, great class. |

I'm in this class right now. I expect an A; Dr. Presson is great. She will talk to you. She will email you back. She truly cares. I would take this class. It's a nice intro to bio I'm taking before I take 170 and so on to see if it's meant for me. Oh, also, the TAs are excellent; overall, this is a great class. |

Dr. Presson is a very kind teacher and often pushed back deadlines for assignments to give students enough time. The class itself is also very informative and positively changed how I think about race. She gives a lot of extra credit opportunities and many assignments are graded for completion. Sometimes class is a bit boring but overall interesting. The TAs are also very helpful and knowledgable about the class. This class does fill up fast so if you want to register do so quickly. |

Dr. Presson is really kind and considerate. The class online was not bad and she pushed back deadlines if we asked which was really nice. The exams for the class are all questions that you need like 5+ sentences for each and get progressively harder and you have to write a 10 page paper about your ancestry so keep that in mind if you don't like writing. The labs seemed like they would be really cool in person but online they are kind of boring. |

Very nice professor and helpful. Easy to get an A as long as any effort is put in. No -'s in her grading so 90% = A. 3 exams and an optional final exam to replace worst exam grade. All exams are written responses. |

Took this class this past semester, was very writing intensive and somewhat difficult because she changed the course, would not recommend |

I'm currently taking this course and it is a total disappointment. Dr. Presson seems like a really cool person, but she cannot really teach the class. In the course you are mainly writing and that's it. She makes you write long papers for no reason and the exams are written too. Then you have irrelevant in-class assignments that don't help you learn. Dr. Presson could really change the way she teaches because due to the fact we had to write a big ass paper I didn't learn a thing from the class and neither got anything from the paper. So, if you want to take this class do know that 24/7 you are writing not learning. |

I love Dr. Presson. She lectures with such emotion and you can truly tell that she's so into whats she's lecturing about. There were clicker questions but she took in consideration that most people wouldn't come to class all the time and said we only had to earn 50 points of clicker questions when there were 2/3 every day worth 4 points. There was a section of three weeks that only covered biology and she said that if you had background in biology already, coming to class would not be necessary for those 3 weeks. Her TAs are really nice and the labs are really cool. She gives 30 points worth of extra credit and makes the final optional to replace one of the exams that you didn't do well on. I loved this class and would recommend it to anyone! The only down fall of the class is it's hard to get in.. But once you're in it's an easy A! |

Great teacher. Great class. Interesting subjects. Very willing to help students. Numerous opportunities to do well in the class. Goes over material constantly to make sure everyone gets it. There is a lot of busy work though, so be prepared. It is not challenging though, so if you want an A, you can get it. It is not important to attend class, but it does reinforce the material. |

Presson is a condescending buffoon. She knows so little about writing (she cannot spell for her life and laughed at a student when the student mentioned MLA format) and humanities subjects but continually yells at her class about how stupid they are. Her lectures are less than pointless. She is so pompous it is frightening. Her exams test on things she has barely mentioned in class and you can write nearly a perfect essay exam and still get a D because you didn't fill the blue book. DO NOT TAKE ANY CLASS FROM HER. EVER. |

Great professor! Very knowledgeable of the subject, take this if you need a lab course. Exams were pretty easy. Just make sure you do the review guides. Book kind of helped, but you don't really need it. |

This class is literally the most interesting and easiest lab class out there. Besides the class, Professor Presson is extremely knowledgeable and makes Bio really fun to learn. The best way to learn and study for this class is actually go to class. I can't say this better than anyone else but TAKE NOTES!!! if you wanna do good in this class. Yes, her powerpoints are on elms but she always teaches something extra which most likely is on the exams. If I can remember this well, there were 2 big exams, 2 short exams throughout the semester. And the final was optional. One big project that you have to present during your lab with a 6-8 pages research paper on it. I mean come on now. It is 4 credits. Overall, amazing professor and an amazing class. |

This is the easiest boi class ever! She gives wordlists guides for all the test and quizes. This makes it 120% easier because it tells you what to study. Lectures are interesting. Some people thought it was boring, but i thought it was just fine and i HATE bio. she gives extra credit and class reflections are easssyy points. There are alot of ways to earn points. Its not just a class with 3 exams and a paper. I am a 2.0 student. And I have a B in her class. And yeah shes a great teacher. |

Best choice for the lab science if you are a non science major! Dr. Presson is helpful, and gives a bunch of extra credit. Take this class! |
