A lot of readings and weekly discussions, plus book reviews and a final project. Do not take with a heavy class load |

Interesting and fairly easy gen-ed I would recommend taking (especially as it covers 3 GenEd requirements). Most of the teaching is done by the TA who you see in discussion once a week. Before you do the discussion sections, there are certain readings or movies you must watch beforehand. There is also a 1-hour lecture that you can watch at any time which is also part of what you will discuss with the class online, but besides that, there are very few assignments. The only big assignments are the 3 oral reports, but you usually have no lecture the week they are due so there is a lot of time to work on them. Overall, the coursework is very manageable, interesting and you get to watch zombie movies, so I would recommend taking it! |

Zombie class is a lie. Don't get me wrong it is a complete joke, but you are assigned a crazy amount of boring readings every week which makes the class a chore. You probably want to take this class because of the very high GPA, but the TA, goes out of her way to dock you points on all your assignments based on nothing and does not leave feedback. This class is set up so that there's one asynchronous lecture and one mandatory 50-minute discussion per week, but the problem is that because the discussion is so short and everyone has to talk, you are not given that many chances to talk. Discussion is graded on participation and is worth 25% of your grade, so because you aren't given that many chances talk, your grade sinks. Even if you manage to participate several times during the discussion the TA does not give you full credit and never explains why. The content is not very interesting and for the last three weeks, we've been watching old zombies movies. Dr. Rodriguez seems like a very nice person and a great professor, but the formatting of this class is not great. My main problem with this class it thinks its important but its just a class about zombies. |

Prof. Rodríguez is a brilliant scholar and passionate teacher from whom anyone would be lucky to take a class. |

Teacher is very passionate, however, it's a LOT of work. So much so that many people dropped the class due to the insane amount of readings, obscure questions on oral reports, and just a very confusing class structure. Despite this, I still believe it's a good class and the content is entertaining. |

Fairly easy gen ed class, fulfills multiple gen eds which is great! Professor is a great lecturer, interesting and engaging. Workload is minimal, weekly movies to watch on your own time and answer some questions. Lots of readings and are “required” but you can get by with skimming. Discussion is kind of pointless but definitely go because participation is like 20% of your grade. Midterm was fairly easy, not much studying needed and you get to use a notecard. Professor is very organized but the elms page has so much stuff it’s hard to find, just go to modules to find everything basically. Fun interesting class, definitely recommend! |

HIST289Y is a unique look at fear throughout history. The class discusses how the legends about zombies reflect the fears of people at the time. |
