Professor Rose is a good professor and a nice lady. She cares for her students and if you show her your willing to work, she will do her best to help you. However, i think the prior reviews about her class being extremely easy and the exams being the same as the homeworks is very outdated. This class is not an easy A class and you have to study hard to get a good grade. The class has 6 hws (one dropped), 6 quizzes (one dropped), 3 exams, and a cash flows exam. The best way to study for exams is to study the homework problems because some of them are mirrored in the exams but they are definitely not exactly the same. However, she is pretty clear on what you need to know before each exam. I would recommend to attend the class as much as possible because she reviews practice problems during class and that's probably the best way to learn the material. She can be quite monotonous but its not exactly the most exciting subject so I dont blame her. Overall, she is on the best accounting professors at Maryland so I recommend you take this class with her. |

She's absolutely the best!!! I also took 310 with her, and she's really great! Fraud Examination is probably one of the best and easiest upper-level elective for accounting majors at UMD. This class consisted of a group presentation on a fraud case, a financial statement project (also group), a midterm, and a final (which this semester were both take-home). Participation and attendance are also a part of your grade. Even though the class is not hard, and the assignments are actually interesting, in order to do really well, you must give her a lot of details in your writing (especially for the exams and project). If you don't, things may turn out badly for you. Overall, this is a wonderful and interesting class, that I recommend everyone take. |

Professor Rose is by far one of the best accounting professors I had during my time at Maryland. Her exams are very fair and straightforward, somewhat similar to the exercises she does in class. There are online assignments in connect due almost every week or two, but it's not too bad. She tends to go a bit fast and to be a little monotone in class, but it's not really a problem, if you take notes and review at home. She's also happy and readily available to help if you have any questions. An A is very easily attainable in her class, with some work, and you'll leave her class feeling like you've learned a lot. Whatever she teaches, I highly recommend that you take it. You'll be glad you did! |

Literally the best professor ever. Gives you all the tools you need to get an A, learns *everyone's* name, and prepares you so, so well. I learned a ton in her class. Absolutely fantastic professor. One of the best things she does is give a fantastic review of the concepts from Principles, which is amazing because I completely forgot everything about that class. If you have the opportunity to take this class with her, you absolutely should!!! |

Professor Rose is one of the best accounting professors that I have had in the Smith school. She is extremely straightforward and fair with her exams. Although she can go a bit quickly through the lectures, keeping up and reviewing her practice problems gives you everything you need to get a solid A in the course. At the end, you will be surprised with how much you actually learned throughout the semester after taking her class. |

Not the most exciting lecturer, but she doesn't need to be; BMGT310 is not too thrilling to begin with. Her lectures run through key concepts in the book's chapters, and she goes through several practice problems that you can later practice online on Wiley Plus. Class consists of 6 Wiley Plus homeworks (lowest score dropped), a quiz on basic accounting concepts, and 3 exams. Exams are VERY reasonable, as they directly mimic the problems you do in class or on WileyPlus, and she is VERY clear about what you need to know for each exam. She is very nice and extremely approachable about any student concerns. She teaches the material as well as it needs to be taught and makes reasonable exams. A student can't ask for much more. |

Would be a 5/5 but her cash flow exam for BMGT311 was very much unfair. Miss one line and you lose 20% of your grade. Still got an A though because the rest of her exams were fair. Her quizzes are usually very difficult, but she drops the lowest one and they're only worth 50 points so it's not too big of a deal. Good professor overall though, much better than Mostow for 310, and definitely worth taking for 311. |

Professor Rose was the best accounting teacher I've had at UMD so far, with the possible exception of Bulmash. Pros: Class is structured where if you do not read the book at least a little before, you're going to be a little lost. She goes over some basic concepts but does ALOT of examples which is really helpful, but if you cant follow it can be quite confusing. She does not lecture with powerpoints (NO Accounting teacher should) so its very helpful to come to class, pay attention, and write down every example you can because her exam questions are verbatim from the homework and textbook and class examples. She is EXTREMELY straightforward- will literally post a list on BB of what content is on the exam and the exam is EXACTLY that no curve balls and nothing unexpected. She is approachable for questions and explains things very well, also what you need to know on CPA exam which is helpful. She gives ALOT of partial credit - I got step one of a 25 point question wrong and therefore got every step wrong, but she went through my work and recalculated with my wrong answers and only took off one point when most accounting teachers take off 25 for a wrong bottom line. She also does not give multiple choice exams which is so helpful - its all open ended and some matching of terms thats usually very easy. Cons: She can be a little dry and monotone, but leases and pensions and error corrections isnt exactly the most interesting topic to teach.. understandable. Class consists of: 2 midterms, 100 points each. 1 Cash Flows Exam (reproduce cash flow statement) 50 points, Quizzes 50 points (take 6, drop 1), Homework 50 points (do 6, drop 1) and a noncumulative final worth 100 points. I felt like I learned A LOT from Professor Rose and will probably take her fraud class just because she teaches it and I really enjoyed her teaching style. Recommend 10000% for both 310 and 311. |

Professor Rose is very knowledgeable on the subject matter. Her class consists of teaching the concepts and going over the practice problems. Her exams are fair, and doing the WileyPlus questions best prepares you for those exams. |

Professor Rose is an excellent accounting teacher. Class time consists of going over key terms and concepts from the chapter being covered and a lot of practice problems. The practice problems are nice because it helps you learn the material and some of the problems covered in class appear word-for-word on the exams. The grading is 3 exams (including the final, which is not comprehensive), 1 quiz (worth half of an exam) and 6 online homework assignments. Class attendance is optional but really recommended because as noted earlier a lot of the material covered in class appears on the exam in either exact or very similar form. Reading the book helps to reinforce and clarify the information. I highly recommend taking Professor Rose's class. She is a very knowledgeable and fair teacher and although you'll need to study hard, it is rewarded with very manageable exams. |

Strengths Professor Rose is a great teacher of accounting. She explains the material clearly and lets you know what will be on the exams/quizzes as well as what's important for the CPA exam. At first she seems really intimidating, however she is a really nice lady and most students like her. The class isn't too much work, some homework assignments, quizzes, and exams. Don't skip class because it's a lot of material and just reading the book would make it harder to learn. I do recommend reading the book though to study for exams and do the problems in the book to really learn the material. It's a hard course but she makes it easier by being a good teacher. Drawbacks The only real drawback is sometimes her voice could be monotonous which made the class boring, taking it at 5PM didn't help. |
