Professor Ruby is an amazing professor. Not only is he incredibly knowledgeable in the field, he's also very understanding and cooperative when it comes to helping students succeed in the class. There is a lot of writing and reading involved in the course, but it's actually quite interesting and you learn a lot of important information on the state of the world from it. I would highly recommend taking this class if you're in to human rights and writing. Professor Ruby really makes taking the class worthwhile. |

This class is so interesting if you are into social justice problems in our world (so many haha). Depressing, but good. The professor is so wise about this field, reported in third-world countries etc. The class structure is two sets of readings every week. A 500 word essay every week usually on readings or topic of choice. No rubrics, just have to write about something in a way that the professor likes or doesn’t know about (so then he cant contradict your claims.) There will be cold-calling in class so make sure you at least skim the readings unless you wanna be embarrassed. 2 article projects for Jour majors. 1 research project for other majors. Professor is flexible with project deadlines if you need extra time. |
