Wayne Santoro SOCY224 Expecting a B+ Anonymous 04/27/2026	Hes a good guy and he cares about the class but the way he goes about things kinda sucks. There are 2 exams but there's not mock exams, so you dont know what to study, you just have to study "everything" which is hard to do when you have 5 weeks of course work to study for. He also doesnt post his slides so its not like you can go back and check what was in lecture, if you miss a day you miss that information and there's nothing you can do about it. And he says that he'll review the class before the exam but its not a review its just you asking questions and him answering but its like how are you supposed to know what to ask if you dont know what you should be studying. There's also a study you have to do where you need to get 5 interviews with people and thats a pain to get. I took this class thinking it was an easy gen-ed and it was not that. It's not possible but its way to hard of a class for what it is. It's also clearly politically biased as a class.
Wayne Santoro SOCY224 Expecting a B+ Anonymous 04/23/2026	I wanna start off by saying he's a good person and he's passionate about what he teaches. BUT... We had 2 closed note exams and the problem with these exams is that he just says that they're on lectures and readings, but he doesn't provide his lecture slides so if you don't take notes your cooked. He also doesn't allow you to take pictures of the slides while he's lecturing. Another downside is that he doesn't post any mock/review exams, and when we asked him for them he simply said that there aren't any but that he's willing to answer any questions you have... but how are we supposed to know what questions to ask if we don't know whats going to be on the exam. He just doesn't specify enough whats going to be on the exams because 6 weeks worth of lectures is a lot of info and its hard to study it all, he just needs to provide some guidelines. I took this class as a filler gen-ed and expected it to be easy and even though it wasn't impossible it was way too hard of a class for its level (not material wise but just the way he goes about the exams).
Wayne Santoro SOCY432 Expecting an A- Anonymous 12/17/2025	He is a really passionate and kind professor. You can tell he loves what he teaches. There are a lot of readings, but if you keep up with them they’re manageable. Also, I would recommend going to office hours because he will definitely help you go over things you are unclear about for the exams.
Wayne Santoro SOCY432 Expecting a C+ Anonymous 11/05/2025	Great teacher in class, and has engaging lessons. I think his classes are straight forward and the exams are based off lecture and the readings. Readings might be a lot and slides are not posted. Taking off a star because he does not format the grades in canvas. You will not know your final grade until the class is over because he doesn't weight them.
Wayne Santoro SOCY433 Expecting a B+ Anonymous 11/05/2025	Overall decently taught class— but all of the grades in this class revolve around exams on the lectures and reading. If you're a student that's better at writing or doing projects, just know that this professor relies extensively on tests. I'm a bad test taker so I didn't do that good in this class unfortunately.
Wayne Santoro SOCY432 Expecting a B+ Anonymous 04/10/2025	He is a very kind man that cares a lot about what he is teaching. He tries to engage students and listens to critiques from them and adjusts accordingly. The exams aren't terribly difficult but you do have to do the readings because there is a large section just on those. I only took off a star because he doesn't post his slides. I understand he wants it as incentives for students to come to class, but it can be irritating when I miss a day for reasons or I don't get all the notes taken down. He's very sweet and very passionate about sociology and wants his students to be as engaged. Overall, he's a kind man that wants his students to succeed. He can curve exams but its not guaranteed.
Wayne Santoro SOCY202 Expecting an A Anonymous 05/09/2023	Pretty good class, the professor makes his expectations clear from the beginning of the course. He doesn't post his lectures, but I think that's reasonable considering that his exams are open note, and it's easy to get notes from another classmate if you need to miss a day. Along with the open note exams, there's also about 6-8 pop quizzes throughout the course, but they're not hard as long as you pay attention during lecture (only a few basic questions about what was covered in the most recent lecture). There are a few lab assignments that are graded mostly on participation, and a term paper at the end of the course that was interesting since you get to do research on any topic you want. Not too hard overall, completing the readings probably take the most time, but they can be interesting.
