265 is an async class with pre-recorded videos. There is a quiz and sometimes an excel graphing assignment each week. I think this helped me get more comfortable with excel, but I would often have to use the library desktops because the graphing instructions were rarely compatible with Mac. Everything is graded pretty generously. But similar to some other courses taught by Dr. Shim the final was difficult, dropping me about 10%. Take this class as a low pressure way to get more comfortable with the techy math/ physics side of knes from someone who teaches 300, not for an A.

Final dropped my grade from a 96% to a 90 flat and I was in the top quartile of scores. Was expecting some sort of curve that never came. Doing the math in ELMS, If you got the maximum score on every assignment you would have a 93.22%, meaning that potentially only one or two people in the class scored higher than an A-. Paper is graded very generously and the quizzes and lectures were fairly standard, but that final exam and its effects on grades were ridiculous.

This class is entirely on line and requires self discipline as it is easy to slack off and not retain the information if it isn’t interesting to you. Only take this class if you’re genuinely interested in the topic otherwise you’ll get bored and procrastinate. At first there were prerecorded lecture videos and textbook chapters to read, but eventually the recordings stopped and we were left with YouTube videos to watch and some textbook chapters. I didn’t mind that too much, as the YouTube videos didn’t take too long to watch most weeks, but I still wished the lecture recordings continued. Weekly quizzes were originally due every Sunday at 11:55 but he changed it to 11:59 at some point, not sure why it wasn’t always like that but not a huge deal. He is relatively easy to contact, but may not respond to emails for up to a week. The final paper instructions were posted very early so you have plenty of time to complete it (5 page research paper on an injury of your choice). Papers weren’t graded too harshly. However, the final exam was horrendous. The format was 20 questions, all with between 0-5 correct answer choices and you only have 1 hour to take it. The format of the final was not like any of the weekly assignments we ever had, and some of the answer choices were confusing, despite it being open note. I had a 92 before the final exam and got a 67 on the final, leaving me with an 87 in the class, no curve despite a 66% average on the final. The high was a 73. Personally, if the HIGH on my final exam was a 73 I would be seriously considering the format and difficulty, because I haven’t seen averages like that since gen chem. There is no curve at the end. 3 stars for the class because everything was okay until the final exam.
