She was open to different ideas shared during class discussions, and simply asked students to elaborate if they said something that was misguided or unfounded. She promoted a healthy class environment that was completely inclusive, and I felt perfectly safe to share my thoughts, takeaways, and ideas during discussions. The workload was incredibly light and was basically just a journal detailing what was learned each week. Overall, great class, great professor.

She’s completely biased in her examination of social structures. Likewise, she clearly holds a grudge against certain demographics in the class. The class feels unsafe and not inclusive :(

Such a sweet and cool professor, I definitely enjoyed her class. And it's a class that, so long as you read, is an A. She does a great job of taking a topic that some people find discussing uncomfortable, and making it pretty comfortable. However, be prepared for group projects and discussions, as that is prominent in the class. Would recommend.

Easy A. The class itself has some interesting information but gets a little preachy. The structure is quite repetitive: the only real work (besides the final project) is weekly introspective journals, give or take a few book readings. Prof. Smith-Bynum was very nice and gave our group tips for the final project as well as let people present unfinished ones but still give full credit if they met the time expectation. There were no finals or midterms so this class is definitely manageable.

Very nice professor and an easy going class. Tests are mostly from power point slides and a little from the book. Other assignments include three short papers. Participation is based on "clickers" you use in class which makes getting participation points easy. I would recommend this class.
