This class is absolutely incredible and I wish every student at UMD could take it. The format is unique since Dr. Snider is the main professor but does not really teach the lessons. Instead, guest lecturers from departments and colleges across campus (public health, education, public policy, etc.) come in for about two weeks/four classes at a time. I felt so supported by so many different professors as they all were passionate about their topics and valued our opinions and insights. Dr. Snider's warm and friendly presence anchors the course as she is always willing to help out students and share opportunities with us. The class itself is not difficult but quite engaging. It's mostly discussion-based with no exams, so it's not like you have to take a lot of notes (there are still readings and it was helpful to take notes on those). In any other class, I probably would have done work for other classes the whole time, but the honest and lively conversations we had were so interesting and always kept my attention. I literally cannot recommend it enough !!!!
