Professor Truitto is fairly nice, and she understands youth since she is pretty young herself. It's a relief from the classic senior professor who is super monotone and boring. My favorite thing about Professor Truitto is her energy and engaging teaching style. That said, I did have a couple of issues with her and this class. In the second half of the semester, she promises a 'flipped classroom', where we are able to do R code and homework assignments in class to be able to ask questions and actually learn. In reality, she gives you zero time to work on homework in class or ask questions as she claims. R code classes are spent mindlessly copying and pasting the code and notes she projects on the board, and we were always behind her jam-packed schedule, which meant we were never able to work on our assignment. Plus, before each class, you have to copy code in R from a video she sends out, which is SO TEDIOUS because she could literally just send the script file. To her benefit, this class was still much more effective than GVPT201, which doesn't actually teach you anything. Professor Turitto and her TA's were also super nit-picky with all assignments. It is so obnoxious. You could get one small detail wrong, and she will take so many points off unnecessarily. This is true for the homework and the one midterm exam. Literally everyone did so poorly on the midterm, partly because she gives you very little study material and also because if you get a detail wrong, she docks you a crazy amount of points. Professor Turitto is also one of those people who says your GPA doesn't matter, which is laughable, honestly. That being said, if you try and pester over unnecessary points taken away, you can still get an A. |

This class was very straightforward. All code needed for any homework or project was carefully explained in class, and both Professor Turitto and the TA were more than happy to help clear up any confusion. Grading criteria tended to be unclear. For the final project, I was looking at 3 documents to piece together the instructions. Still enjoyable! |

If I could give her a 4.5 I would, but 5 stars it is. Dr. Turitto is very smart but this class is extremely difficult. I think she teaches it well and doesn't baby her students but expect to be challenged. She's funny, intelligent, and nice. I would take this class right after GVPT201 because this class builds off 201. Utilize her and her TAs office hours and take the class seriously or else you won't succeed unless you're already amazing at math and coding. |

Really important class for developing skills in R, and generally the assignments/projects helped achieve this goal. The workload is not too overwhelming and the professor and TA were very helpful in working through questions with the material. *However* I found Professor Turitto's instructions on the final project and most of the assignments to be vague and confusing, resulting in my getting points off for small things that were not made clear at the beginning of the assignment. It required that I ask for a lot of clarification on work and the final project, so just something to be aware of. Otherwise good class! |

Great professor! She made a difficult class (for me, at least) as interesting as it could be. She gave us genuinely great advice, too. The class itself wasn't my favorite just because I'm not a math person, but Dr. Turitto is an engaging and disarming presence in the classroom. |

Professor Turitto is super nice, very knowledgeable, makes her lectures funny, and is overall a wonderful person. She is very good at explaining complicated statistical topics in a way that is easy to understand. GVPT 320 is really an extension of GVPT 201, and she does a good job of reviewing the 201 content before launching in to anything new. There can be a lot of repetition of 201 content at times, but this course does go farther. Lectures can be a bit boring and are sometimes nonstop R commands, but they're informative. Overall a great class, especially if you want to get comfortable working in R. Can't go wrong with Professor Turitto. |
