If you’re taking ENES100 at UMD, do everything you can to get Caleb Vu as your TA. He’s hands-down one of the most supportive, knowledgeable, and genuinely fun TAs I’ve worked with. Unc, as I like to call him, has a way of explaining engineering concepts so they actually make sense. He breaks down tough material without ever making you feel dumb for asking questions. During lab, he’s everywhere at once—helping teams troubleshoot, giving feedback, and keeping the energy high even when projects get chaotic. What really sets him apart is how much he cares. He remembers your project, your team, your struggles, and celebrates your wins. He never hesitates to stay late, answer extra questions, or walk you through a problem step-by-step. You can tell he wants his students to succeed, not just survive. Plus, his vibe is unmatched. Everyone calls him “unc” for a reason—he’s that cool, approachable and inspirational and generously keeps the whole section running smoothly while still making it fun. If you want a TA who knows his stuff, makes ENES100 way less stressful, and creates an environment where you actually enjoy the work, Caleb Vu is the one. He unironically says 6-7 tho, rough, all things said, easily a 5 star TA. Highly recommend. |
