Pretty standard for an advanced biology course, professor was very understanding and nice. I did take this over Winter so the workload felt very overwhelming but the exams are manageable enough. Granted if you take this during the school year I would be consistent with note-taking and staying on schedule with content, it is no joke and the FRQs require a lot of application of the content you learn. Would not recommend if you were falling behind in 330. With online quizzes, there were multiple glitches in the system that led to right answers being marked wrong, so if you're sure you answer is correct, make sure to email her, she is very patient and understanding with that kind of stuff. Final project was a little tedious as you had to record a 20-35 minute presentation. |

This course should not be offered in an accelerated format over the winter/summer semesters. The workload for each week is ridiculous, with up to 4 quizzes and an exam for a given module. She opened the exams on Friday at 9pm and closed them on Sundays at 11:59pm, essentially forcing students to take exams over the weekend as opposed to opening them sooner and allowing students the opportunity to complete them earlier in the week. A lot of the questions did not reflect what was discussed in lecture, some of them directly contradicting things she stated in her videos. If you performed well in BSCI330 and are looking for more exposure to biochemical pathways, this course's content is extremely interesting. I thoroughly enjoyed the concepts, however, I found it very difficult to manage while working through the summer. The nice thing about this class is that the grade distributions are generous and the class is 100% asynchronous. If you have a light summer/winter schedule and are looking for something engaging, this is the class for you. If you're just looking to fulfill a requirement, pick something else. |
