DO NOT TAKE HIM!! He has absolutely no structure to the class. He told us in the beginning we would have two papers and a final presentation, but didn't give us the first paper until April. There are two weeks left in the semester and we still have no idea what our grade is. He doesn't input a single grade into Canvas. He graded our papers (which took forever) and sent us his comments and our letter grade in an email, but still didn't put it in the system. He is so boring and just yaps the entire hour and a half about something completely different than what he originally said he would talk about. He is good if you have to miss a class or need an extension for something but do not take him. |

This is my 3rd time taking him and I refuse to sit by and let all the negative reviews win. All these reviews complain about his grading, and yes, admittedly, he does take his time with putting in grades but that is mainly because 1) he is (much more focused on making sure each student fully understands the films & material & has something to add to class discussions than a few pixels and codes on canvas and 2) he is very understanding and empathetic if you need an extension or turn in something late |

Slow grader and not easy for a gened, but some of the people here come to this website just to complain that they didn't get an A for doing no work. Zakim is hella funny and super smart. It's definitelly really possible to get an A if you just watch the stuff we're supposed to (can do other hw during) and just write like you agree with his opinions. |

Very disorganized professor. He would post our assignments a couple days before they were due and expect us to be able to watch a whole season of a TV show in one or two days (mostly because he forgot to post the episodes until a day or two before class). The class and grading were entirely based around his opinions. Furthermore, grades were not entered in until the end of the semester so we had no indication of our performance in the class until it was too late to fix. |
