She's so sweet! The content was interesting, but her lectures were a little boring. It got to the point where everyone in the class was doing work instead of paying attention. Jie is very receptive to feedback and wants everyone to succeed in her class. She has a strong background in the retail industry, and I highly recommend asking her about it! |

The sweetest most caring professor I've ever had. The class material itself isn't the most interesting and classes can feel long, but the class overall is not bad at all. Attendance is taken though. There are two case studies(one individual and one with a group you can choose) a final project and paper, and a final exam. All were not difficult and Zhang is extremely responsive to email if you ever need help or have questions. No textbook needed for this class and if you ever need to miss class just send her an email and you'll be excused. |

This professor was the sweetest, most caring professor I have had. Course content is easy to follow, and the professor always ensures extra practice with the class as a whole if it appears as though the class is not fully understanding the content. |

Take her for this class. Not only is she a great professor but the kindest one I’ve ever had at UMD. Class is very manageable and would highly recommend |

She is a really caring professor. The material is really straightforward, and the exams are fairly easy. She actually allows you up to 4 multiple choice questions where you can choose an answer and then back it up with your own reasoning, and you can either earn full or partial credit. DON'T NEED THE BOOK AT ALL. Her powerpoint slides tell you what you need for your exam. In fact, all the information you need in the study guide can be found on her slides. |

For some reason, marketing classes bore me out of my mind. To put it frankly, over 90% of the material taught in marketing classes are common sense. I have no clue why this is even a major. This class was no different. Typical boring book and lectures that conveys common sense material packaged together with vocabulary words that aren't used by every day people to make it seem like a subject worth learning. Meh. I only took the class because the textbook was so cheap, but didn't open it once throughout the entire semester and still got an A. The only thing about the class that I would say was positive was that the professor was enthusiastic. |

other reviews are spot on. great teacher, actually learns all her students' names. tries to make the class fun, reacts to student feedback, kinda boring lecture though. Don't bother buying the book. |

Awesome professor. Loves to chat and chat, and chat some more. But she does make things easy so that anyone could pass. In addition she gets flustered when you look at her so don't be alarmed if she turns beet red or starts to blabber about nonsense. Choose her 5/5 times over any other professor. |

Zhang is AMAZING. She is by far one of the best professors I've had in my college career. She's smart, she knows her stuff, she's INCREDIBLY nice, and she tries so hard to make class fun and engaging; she really values student input from the bottom of her heart, and she tries to reach out to students in a very personal way. The class itself is extremely easy. There's only 1 midterm exam, 3 Field Studies, a semester long group project, and the Final. The Midterm was very easy; I just reviewed the lecture notes and got an A+ on it. The field studies are really simple and you basically get credit just for doing them! All they consist of is 2-3 double spaced pages about some retail topic. She even says you don't need to worry about making the writing that great. The group project isn't bad at all; it's just a paper and a presentation. As long as you get a good group of people, you should be able to do it very easily. Plus you choose your topic and ours was really interesting, so I had fun doing it. Finally, the final isn't bad either. You learn a lot from this class about retail concepts and I loved the material. I thought Zhang was very understanding and approachable, and she can explain any concept with ease! If you take 353, TAKE IT WITH ZHANG!! |

Professor Zhang is extremely nice. The only problem is that she LOVES to talk, which makes lectures boring. if she didnt take attendance, class would be pointless. DO NOT BUY THE BOOK. literally nothing from the book is on the exams or discussed in class. im not sure why we have one. you just have to buy a small case packet for $10. the class isnt hard, it isnt exciting, but the teacher really wants you to do well. its basically two tests and one big project with 3 little projects graded 100% if you do them. |
