He's such a cool dude. Clearly knows what he's talking about. Very friendly to talk to and ask for help with parts of the content. He got rid of a lot of the weekly quizzes which was such a stress reliever. The only thing about zakota is the lack of study material that he provides but with what he provides, it's still sufficient to do well in the course and on the exams. I would 100% recommend him for 221

Zakota is genuinely the GOAT. His lecture slides are detailed and informative (sometimes TOO informative for someone handwriting their notes lol), and he makes them very personal with his AI generated images and handwritten notes. The exams are difficult but nothing crazy, and it's definitely content that was covered in class. Homeworks are much easier than Accounting 1 homeworks, and Zakota actively contacted Connect to give us more "hints". Genuinely couldn't have asked for a better professor for this course.

he is zagoata Zakota is a great professor. He is kind and not at all annoying. His lectures are thorough, and his slides are fun and easy to refer back to. He gave us a free 100% on the last quiz hence why I am writing this review. The exams are harder than the quizzes and the content covered in class but it's nothing you can't study for, and they're all multiple-choice. You couldn't ask for a better professor to teach this course.

Highkey the boy. Didn't do well in the class but that was because I had personal struggles last spring when I took it with him, so I didn't put in the effort needed, yet I passed. Very genuine and down to earth guy. Very qualified with high energy and a super laid back demeanor. Class structure is pretty chill and the exams matter a lot. If you do the very bare minimum, you will pass. If you actually apply yourself and go in for help if you're confused, you will do very well. Objectively way easier than Accounting 1.

This was his first semester teaching at UMD so his administration of exams and quizzes felt a little unorganized. However, he's a very friendly and knowledgeable professor. He also got rid of the whole one quiz each week thing which took a huge stress load off my shoulders. His grading ranges are pretty generous and the quizzes were easy. The only downside was the exams which were much harder than the content we covered in class and discussion and he gave very little practice for them outside of one practice exam and the class slides. If you pay attention and study each week you'll be fine, attend lectures, go to discussions, and there is no way you'll get below a B.

This course was great. McMillan didn't require attendance. I found the content to be pretty simple and I didn't go to many classes, but when I did I thought he did a great job at explaining concepts. I would recommend taking this class with him. He is also very approachable so if you are struggling just reach out.

Nice professor, engaging and funny (don't let him say Chipotle), the quizzes were hard because they were mostly conceptual (I didn't get a 100% on any of them), mid-terms and the final were easy if you are good at application problems like bmgt220.

McMillan mainly goes over slides in class. Put in the work and you'll do fine in the class(don't skip like me). The final exam got harder for the Fall 2023 semester as we were not even allowed to have a cheat sheet, unlike other semesters. The cumulative final holds a ton of weight and the content on it had a lot of things that we barely went over. All in all, the class is doable if you put in the work, McMillan is chill but you have to put in the work outside of lectures to do well

Professor McMillan is a nice person but the quizzes he has us do every week are very difficult to get above a 70 on. The conceptual questions he asks are usually 80% of each quiz and the way they are formatted make them extremely hard to get right. The smartbook and homework assignments don't really relate to what will be on the quiz so I think you would have to actually read the textbook to be prepared for them. The midterm exams were more focused on math problems like what we study on the homeworks, so the average for those were usually 80%. The final exam was extremely difficult and the "curve" of your lower quiz grades being replaced with your final exam grade didn't do shit since the quizzes are only weighted 10%.

they just changed the curriculum and it is SO HARD. the midterm practices are nothing like the exams itself. save yourself the peace of mind and take it at community college.

McMillan actually teaches you the material and doesn't expect you to learn it on your own. I did not miss a single one of his lectures, and it paid off. People that do poorly in this class skip lectures. By the end of the semester, out of a 200 person lecture, there were only 30 people regularly showing up. Since this a requirement for all business majors, a lot of them do not care enough to attend class. His first exam is super easy, but the second exam and final are far more difficult. Make sure to be super comfortable with all of the example problems he covers in class as well as the homework problems before exams.

Very important to come to lectures. Final exam is very important to do well on because it is worth a lot and it can improve grades on other assignments. McMillan seems to care about his students but gets very confused about the numbers in the problems he goes over in class. Overall, he is decent.

The class was overall fine. McMillan was great the first 3/4 of the semester - he would talk about both the concepts and how to complete math problems that lined up with the homework and quizzes. However, towards the end of the semester, he started skipping a lot of content and would get distracted which sucked because that unit was the hardest. If you go to the lectures and complete the weekly quizzes you should be fine, you just have to put in the work.

He's an okay professor, pretty funny guy but his lectures are slow and skippable. After a few weeks you realize you can just read the class notes on Canvas instead of showing up to his class. He also has this really awful policy where you can't make up any homework or quizzes for ANY reason, because the final exam grade will replace all your lowest grades. Exams are easier than any of the homework (the questions are dumbed down for the exams). All you have to do is look at the practice version before the exam and make sure you can answer all the questions.

Dr. McMillan's class is very nice. More involved than BMGT 220. Just put in the effort to go to some lectures and don't slack off too much.

McMillan is a kind professor and is knowledgable, but it's hard to stay engaged during lectures because he just tends to read off the slides. A lot of people stopped coming to class and just tried to teach themselves .Sometimes the quizzes were much harder than what he went over in class and the exams were pretty difficult. He kind of rushed through the last 4 chapters (which were easily the hardest all year) and made a majority of the final exam include those types of questions, so if you want to do good on the final you should start looking over those early and teaching yourself.

Dr. McMillan is a very nice person who knows his subject well, but he can phrase things in confusing ways. He will also go over theory extensively, even though the math is what most people needed help with. He said a lot, but didn’t teach much. The quizzes were straightforward enough, especially if you went to class; they were also basically mini practice exams, because the questions were very related. The exams were quite easy if you study the quizzes and exams. The class was way less time-consuming than BMGT220, but insanely boring. That being said, I’d still recommend reading the textbook and going to class.

McMillian is very nice but he doesn't give any attention to individuals and just talks in his lectures. He's kinda boring but you'll get the information you need from his course.

This class was much better than Basu in BMGT220, but often his lectures were the same thing as doing the homework (reading the textbook). The weekly quizzes are easy because TAs often give you the answers before you even start. I wish he would post more practice exams before exams so that we have more practice because some exams threw curve balls. The final and second exams had concepts I hadn't even practiced before. He is a great and caring professor, but sometimes questions in the class took forever and ended up wasting time so much that a lot of students stopped going to class.

McMillan is genuinely such a good professor. Unlike the hell that Basu was, he genuinely makes an effort to answer all your questions in class and accommodate to everyone's needs. The class atmosphere he kind of creates through his cheeky, engaging attitude gives BMGT221 a much more enjoyable vibe compared to BMGT220. One thing I didn't appreciate about him was how unexpected his exams could be. The first midterm was a breeze. The mean was a 86%. The next midterm was nothing like the first one. The mean was a 77%. The mean on the final was 80%. Although still better than Basu's exams. One thing in particular that I didn't enjoy under McMillan was how he included one or two obscure concepts that are only semi-related to what was covered in class in the exams so that it would be practically impossible to ace. A solid professor though, I genuinely appreciate how he tries to answer even the most basic questions that students may have. Would recommend if it's ever a choice between him and someone else.

This class is a little boring, but I believe that has more to do with the information than the professor. There are quizzes during Friday discussions and you are also expected to read the chapter before going to class because you will often do practice problems. I would reccomend paying attention to the TA slides, which helped me the most, and also making an effort to do the weekly assignments.

Professor McMillan was a very nice professor. He is very knowledgeable in accounting, and cares about his students. His powerpoints during lectures often had mistakes and he seemed to be a little flustered at times, though this may be because he was a new professor. If you read the book, do all the weekly assignments, and attend lecture, there’s no reason you can’t get a good grade.

Amazing professor!! He's engaging, funny, and works through things super slow. He is always willing to stop or go back if you need more time on a concept. People had trouble with him because they did not read the textbook or put in the work to understand the lecture. Then they would get to class and expect him to spoonfeed the concepts to them. You need to do the supplemental work alongside this class to succeed.

Great PowerPoints and plenty of practice quizzes/exams. Assignments are graded fairly, not too much work (if you get started early), and directly representative of what will be tested. The class is very routine in its weekly assignments and expectations are clearly laid out. Read the book and pay attention to the content covered on the PowerPoints if you expect to be successful. Attendance is not mandatory, since the online lectures are recorded and during class, you review the PowerPoints that you should have watched before class. Overall, Bulmash is a fantastic person who takes plain information and equations from a textbook and applies it to the real world. He challenges his students to push themselves and is always willing to take time out of his day to clarify or help a student. 10/10 would recommend.

My favorite teacher at UMD. This man cares about his students and makes accounting interesting. Accounting isn't even my major and he kept me interested. The class is laid back and he tells stories that ties into concepts. If he were to teach another class I would enroll in a heartbeat.

Professor Bulmash is an amazing person. He will go above and beyond for his students. If you can, go to his office hours and meet him. He is such a good person to know and teaches well too. His teaching style is as good as it can be for the material, which I personally found to be dry (not his fault). His exams are challenging but As are achievable. He does NOT try to trick you by listing 4 possible answers you can get by making a mistake like other professors do. Bottom line: Take Bulmash. Don't just take his class, meet him.
