Organic Chemistry I

Prerequisite: CHEM131, CHEM135, or CHEM146; and (CHEM132, CHEM136, CHEM147, or CHEM177); and a grade of C- or better in the prerequisites is required of College of Computer, Mathematical, and Natural Sciences majors and recommended for all students. Corequisite: CHEM232. Credit only granted for: CHEM104, CHEM231, CHEM233 or CHEM237. Formerly: CHEM233. The chemistry of carbon: aliphatic compounds, aromatic compounds, stereochemistry, arenes, halides, alcohols, esters and spectroscopy.
