Special Topics in French Literature; Love and Power in French Fiction

Prerequisites: FREN301; and FREN351 or FREN352. Traces the evolution of aspects of French fiction through the thematic lens of love and power. Beginning with the Middle Ages, we will read representative examples of fiction from each century. The emphasis will be on the novel: by the end of the course, students will have gained an understanding of this form as evolved through time as well as an in-depth knowledge of a number of important works. Taught in French.
