Selected Topics in German Literature; Future Tense: Speculative Visions in Contemporary German Literature and Film
Cross-listed with GERM689K. Credit only granted for GERM439K or GERM689K. This seminar investigates how literature and film can help us speculate on the future and imagine more just worlds. We will consider how German-language writers and filmmakers respond to the precarity caused by neoliberal capitalism, climate change, biopolitics, colonialism, and racist violence by offering alternative and resistant visions that help us to think through the problems of the present. Taught in German.
