Topics in International Relations; Conflicts of the International System

This course will provide an overview of the major theories of conflict from its onset to conduct to termination. Students will then explore these theories through analyzing both past and current conflicts around the world. The class will leave students knowing major themes such as why conflicts occur or what we can do to mitigate them, while allowing them to apply this knowledge to conflicts like the conflict in Yemen, Ethiopia, or Syria. The class will discuss interstate and intrastate war with more emphasis on the latter.
