SPAN798M

Open Seminar; Castilian Middle Ages and North America's Neomedievalism

In this class we will address several aspects of the Castile's Middle Ages that left an imprint in North America; they are empirically proven, ideologically ignored and very alive in today's society. We will explore the limits and history of Spanish North America and the Spanish Borderlands and its past in the East Coast. In this seminar we will connect the late Castilian Middle Ages and Early modern periods Spain with 16th Florida and the US East Coast through literary texts, chronicles, private letters, maps and other documents that can help us address this ignored commonality or missing link.
