This may be the class for you depending on what you are looking to get from it. If I had to rate James Green as a professor and on his teaching abilities I would give him a 1/5. If you are genuinely interested in this topic then this may not be the class for you. You really do not learn anything throughout this semester. However, this class is perfect for you if you are looking for a GPA boost, easy Gen Ed, or a low time commitment 3 credit class. I am giving this a 5/5 because this is what I was looking for. Throughout the semester there is a very low time requirement. Outside of class you maybe spend 30 min a week (MAX) on work. (And the class is 50 min a week.) There is a $35 textbook you need and a 5 point quiz each week. These quizzes say to read the textbook, required readings, and the videos, however, this tends to be the same information 3 different ways. If you can use control F on the textbook you are fine. They are open note and open book as well so this is what he recommended to do. The end does require a fair amount of work because of the term project. You have around a week to work with your group to complete 4000 words and a wireframe. As long as your team equally contributes you'll be fine. Overall, if you want a free A and a GPA boost then I highly recommend this class. Just make sure to do all assignments since there are not many and each has a heavy weight on your grade.

I got an A but this class was kinda tricky because there's 5 point quizzes that make up almost all of your grade besides the term project. DO NOT wait until the last minute to do the term project, it took me about 4 hours and I turned it in late which was super stressful but I still got a 100%. This did help keep my GPA up, and I never really had to do work for this class throughout the semester other than Sunday nights when I'd read the chapter and do the quiz.

Even though I did get an A+ the class was difficult, like it was not an easy A like everyone else said it was and for a while it was my lowest grade. I spent hours to make sure I did good on the quizzes and even then I rarely got a 5/5, but that's just me. He definitely made it more difficult so don't rely on control F because that will not help you. The only reason I got an A+ was because the last assignment was worth a lot of points and I got a 100 but I was really relying on that. So if you're taking this class for the easy A like I did, beware that it is not as easy as it seems and actually a lot of work.

Even though I got an A+, this class felt frustratingly difficult compared to what I've heard from prior years. Not only that, the textbook and lecture videos were often unclear, there's no good way of connecting with him, and worst of all: this class is a complete scam. The things James is trying to teach in his $35 textbook lowkey sound like bad advice in a lot of ways. Take this course, but keep in mind that it's not a cakewalk and James can be a pain in the ass sometimes.

If you’re deciding between 140 and 210 just take 210. Even though 140 is fully online, 210 meets once a week for 50 minutes and all you do is answer different questions in a google doc with your group members then turn it in at the end of class. The project is very easy because those questions you are answering every week pretty much give you what you need for the final project. The weekly quizzes for 210 are also much easier than the quizzes for 140.

Free A+, use ChatGPT for the quizzes which are basically weekly. Only need to spend 5 min a week. The final is just an essay which you can do in 2-3 hours easily. You have to pay $35 for the textbook, but this class is essentially a free 3 credit DSSP for 5 min a week.

All the other reviews are right, buy the textbook, do the work and you should be good. I will add that the weekly quizzes can kinda be tricky!! and they are worth a lot of your grade so be careful. There's info on them from the textbook AND what he says in the lectures, but the lectures have a transcript you can search(command-F) through. Easy class and the more annoying part is the final which is just answering 10 questions. As long as you are within the word limit for everything you are good.

I absolutely hated this class. It's honestly one of the biggest mistakes I could've made in terms of course selection. Perhaps the other professor teaching this is better but James Green could not give one crap about his students. Honestly with 35 dollars a student (for the textbook) this guy has secured a fortune for himself. Everything is online, and before you think you can control F everything, the quizzes are different from what you'll find in the readings. So if you mess up a few quizzes your grade is screwed since they account for half of your grade (each quiz is out of 5...do the math). Do not take this class unless you're going to take the quizzes in groups or have the answers from someone. I can't say how much I hated this class.

Course: Pretty easy. I spent around 30 minutes a week on this course due to small quizzes each week. Take the quizzes seriously however because it is 5 questions, 5 points, and there are only 100 total normal points in this course, so every question wrong is 1% down in your grade. As long as you can CTRL F the textbook/video transcripts, ChatGPT (sometimes unreliable), or do quizzes with a partner (what I did), you will be fine. The Term project at the end is pretty easy, a bit long. I was able to just grind and complete the whole thing in 2 1/2 hours. You have to buy his textbook otherwise you can't do the class ($35). Assignment breakdown: - Evaluations (10), 10%, as long as you complete them in the textbook, you get the points. They're basically surveys. Screenshot your results to save them for the Term Project later on. - Quizzes (9), 45% - Term Project: Preliminary Phases (3), 6%, a few sentences at max for 3 parts. Easy. - Term Project: Final Phase (1), 39%, just grind it and you can complete it easily, doesn't take long. - OPTIONAL Peer Review of Project (1), +1%, just 4 write up questions about someone else's project. What me and my roommate did was just write our peer review for our own projects in each other's voices to save us time. Professor: The ONLY thing good about him is that his class is online and asynchronous. He does NOT care for you, he does NOT care about your education, he does NOT care about your grade. If you email him, he will take at least a week to respond if it's just a question about the course, besides that, you will ghost you. Very unprofessional. Only reason why I would take him again is because I did not have to interact with him and the course was easy.

Grading through the course is through weekly quizzes, product assessment, in-class activities, final project write-up, and individual analysis of final project write-up. For the weekly quizzes you can find the answers in the lecture videos and book this takes about 30 minutes max. The product assessments are a short questionnaire about your product they take 2 minutes max. The in-class activities never take more than 30 minutes max. Finally the final project write-up and individual analysis make sure you do every part required of these and hit the word count and you'll get an A. Overall this class is super straightforward and you'll never spend more than 90 minutes a week on it and get an A.

Quizzes are a hassle given how the answers are irritating to find on the venture book source. One point deduction on a quiz can greatly reduce your grade. The other assignments that are on the venture book is easy as you just answer the questions in any way and get free points. The final assignment was a pain since you need several cited sources and ensure that you answer each question in the range of 180 to 220 words, otherwise, you get a zero for that question. Regardless, as long as you have cited sources applied to the question and fill in the other assignment requirements for said question, you can get full points on the quiz. Moreover, it is best to do the quiz a few days before the due date/deadline because it takes like half a day to complete. Ultimately, this course is an easy A for everyone, but you are definitely not gonna learn anything useful.

Use quizlet for the weekly quizzes and don't do any of the reading (they are literally never relevant). Lastly, take the class with friends are form a good relationship with competent group members because taking care of the group project is actually the only important thing in this class. This class is poetic. All of his pre-recorded "lessons" (common sense packaged into power-points that he reads directly, recorded 8 years ago) teach you how to become an entrepreneur. A $30 "e-book" (those same power-points copy-pasted onto a site he owns as an LLC (https://opencorporates.com/companies/us_md/W16090763) - he likely has near-zero expenses) is required for the hundreds of students that take his courses with this material each semester. You do the math. And not a single drop of sweat from James Green's bald head. That's passive income baby. At some point you'll realize the real lesson is that you just got swindled by the one true entrepreneur: James Green. THIS is his business and you're just a customer. Welcome to the real world. Accepting what's happened, you turn a grin to your new friend, late-stage capitalism, and realize that this is more than just hustling students. He's really offering you a deal under the table: pay tuition for the course, give him his $30, and for 5 hours of total work you get an A for 3 credits! And what's that? You can do it again?? You can at least get an A- if you do all the work. But I want to point out that an A/A+ is not guaranteed because the quiz questions are not clear to find. You can make 5 mistakes at most in the whole semester if you want an A. Each mistake in the quiz takes 1 point off from your total grade, which is terrifying. The final project/paper is fine and everyone can get 100/100.

People don't like him because you don't really learn anything in this class, but for someone who took this class purely for the gen ed credit, it was great. Minimum amount of effort was needed for the class. Lectures were both in person and pre recorded so you could choose if you wanted to go into class or not. The pre recorded lectures were usually only 20 minutes long, the weekly assignments took 20 minutes max for more research focused ones, weekly quizzes are a big part of your grade but they're open book and the answers are almost always in the textbook. Plus class was only once a week and there are no exams of any kind. The only real downside is the final paper which is expected to be 3k - 4k words with 10 citations. As long as you start early it's really not even that bad, you use the weekly assignments for most of the answers and then to reach the word count you just talk about random stuff. Mine was around 3.5k words and I got a 100 and ended with like a 98% in the class. He was also very responsive to emails (would reply within 24 hours) and is very helpful in person if you're ever really struggling (I went to lecture in person in the beginning of the semester). Would definitely recommend if you're looking to fulfill a gen ed, but of you actually want to learn something, choose a different class.

These classes exist solely for James Green to make a profit off of selling his textbook, so if you take 210 or 140 to actually learn any of the material, you will quickly be disappointed. His online lectures are pre-recorded, and his (mandatory) textbook is often copied word for word onto assignments. That being said, the class is an easy A that requires little to no effort aside from the final project.

Not very accommodating and hard to reach. He makes it difficult to seek help and is quite rude and arrogant in general. But I wouldn't take it if you're the type that likes to reach out to professors or engage with TAs to do well in school

I took this as an easy elective, and it was, but I learned absolutely nothing in this class. I'm amazed that James Green gets paid to teach at this school because he literally does nothing. I assume he made all the content for this course years ago and all he has to do is upload an ELMs page with it every semester. Not only does he get paid for doing nothing, but he requires you to buy his textbook to answer his reading quizzes and do the evaluations. The final project is the only thing he has to "grade", but there is no way he reads everything due to the amount of kids in the course. Still, it was an insanely easy class. I would put in a maximum of 30 minutes of work every week for this class. You can finish an evaluation in a less than a minute by clicking through it. The reading quizzes were a bit tricker than everyone says they are. You can CTRL-F most of the answers, but there are some questions and are a bit tricky. I think I got like an 89% average on them and that was with not even reading the book, however. The final project is like 45% of your grade and I basically would just say random things from his textbook and I got a 100 on it. You have to write 2000 words, and it can take a little time, but it's not difficult. While James Green is barely a teacher and I learned nothing from this class, it was so easy. I'm even taking ENES210 next semester because I heard it was of similar difficulty and I needed to get my last DSSP credit.

Yes, this class is still not very useful, pretty boring, but it is easy to get an A. Just make sure to actually try on the quizzes, and weekly activities, because they do actually sometimes grade the weekly activities, and don't put off the final project until the last day. I think everyone in the class got an A on the final project as long as they did all the questions. It's supposed to be 4,000 words which is kinda a pain, but I only give this class this high of a rating because of how little the workload was.

Although the class is online, it is not a zoom lecture. Instead, he broadcasts himself speaking and does not give you an opportunity to ask him questions. He is only available through email and offers no office hours. Although the class itself is straightforward, as someone who likes to ask questions and has needed help over the semester I did not feel like I was given many options to ask for help other than email. The weekly assignment is based on the textbook (which he wrote and makes you pay for), which he then re-iterates in videos you have to watch before class, and then again in the broadcast lectures. I took this as a gen-ed and to learn more about business and entrepreneurship and I honestly don't know if it was worth it for the stress caused by not being able to get appropriate help.

James V. Green is potentially the most hands-off professor that I have ever encountered at my time at this university. All of his lectures are pre-recorded, and, from what I have heard, have been reused for several semesters now. He makes a lot of money off of students buying his textbook that you have to buy for the class, and most of his assignments are extremely surface-level and do not teach you about the real nuance and strategy development skills behind entrepreneurship and other related skills that the course description claims to offer. In essence, he tells you that, in order to have a successful startup, you need a good idea, good people, and good strategy with little to no competition in your area. This, as mentioned earlier, is extremely surface level, and does not even begin to dive into the depth marketing and management skills needed to successfully run a startup company. His course claims that being the first and most innovative product design will lend you the most successful opportunity. This, however, is clearly not the case, as many product launches, including Apple's iPhone, were launched with preexisting technology but took advantage of other factors and markets to take over larger portions of market share. His class will NOT lend andy real skills that you can use later on. However, if you are looking for an easy three-credit gen ed, then you might want to consider taking it, as it is very low time commitment and all of his quizzes are easily ctrl+f-able (from his his textbook).

The grading in his courses make little sense. The material is just a repackaged crap udemy course. He can be arbitrarily tough on one assignment and then laughably incompetent on others. For example, assignments that asked about partners, distribution channels, exits, I had personal experience with my startup (Acquired for 2 mil by Bitesquad - sorry I gotta flex) that I drew on and really tried.... I got like 50%. In contrast, on the final assignment doing the whole write up of like 10 paragraphs, I wrote 1 paragraph and copy and pasted it 10 times and got 100%. The entire minor is an exercise in bs

It's a pretty easy course, but the only assignment that is going to require effort is the final. I wouldn't push that off for the last minute, as its kinda long and takes some effort. He makes you buy his textbook that he written for $25 and you must buy this book as all the quizzes are based on it and the online simulations. The class itself is fairly easy with just simulations, weekly quizzes/assignments, and the final group project. You have to design an MVP with a group and go through the steps to build a startup around the product. You'll work on it slowly throughout the semester through the weekly assignments. If you have a good group, you'll be fine and it'll be easy. If you get a slacking group, you'll have a lot of work to do.

The other reviews are somewhat reflective of the truth. He runs the course on autopilot, with the synchronous lectures being pre-recorded videos. Yes...The SYNCHRONOUS lectures are pre-recorded. Which means you're stuck watching a ~20 minute video at a specific time of the day, and can't watch it back later. The average work week is around 1-2hrs of work (including watching module videos, reading, and note taking). There is a quiz each week, and 4 simulations. This semester, he dropped the simulation grades and just went off of completion (I.E., you do it, you get 100%). The core of the grade comes from weekly group activities, which take around ~5 minutes per team member (4 of them). These weekly activities lead up to the final project, which is a 4,000 word writeup and summary of your theoretical startup company product/service. If you get inactive teammembers, you're stuck covering for them. At the end of the semester, you do a final independent writeup of the team project, where you can list the members who did contribute or did NOT contribute to the project. He will then ask for a Google Docs link where he can see who did what, and substantiate your claims. My understanding is that their independent grade is docked accordingly. As a whole, I don't mind him and I would take him again.

If you are not interested in business, do not have any business background knowledge, and are looking for a class that does not require any brainpower whatsoever, do not take this class. However, if you have a background in business, this class is a breeze. It reviews very basic business topics and you read 1-2 chapters which totals to 6 pages each week. If you take notes on the chapters you don't even need to look at any of the extra readings or even his lectures to take the quizzes. The simulations can be a bit difficult, however the final INDIVIDUAL project was very manageable and easy to get almost 100% on. He also offers an optional extra credit opportunity at the end which was helpful. Never had to interact with the professor, but his grading was very fair and straightforward. People who are complaining probably didn't put any work in or missed his deadlines and expected to get a 95%. Finally, it being all online was super nice, you just have to allocate 2 hours a week for this class and you will be set.

So, everyone mostly takes this class because of its reputation of being an easy A. It is honestly still an easy A, but way harder than it’s been in past semesters. The word count for the analyses are 200 now. And we have a final group project now worth 18% of our grade which isn’t hard, but I’d rather just have an individual final project rather than meet up with people. I didn’t learn much while taking this class though. There’s no feedback on any of the written assignments besides the final project. Which is weird because how am I supposed to learn from my mistakes? And it felt like some grades were just assigned randomly. Overall, if you want an easy A, take this class. Just remember you actually have to try now because they’re skimming the analyses. But, if you want to learn, I wouldn’t recommend it.

This course is an easy A for everybody (I missed out on an A- by .1%), and it honestly devalues the GPA here. This course should not be taught. Green requires everybody spends $30 on his own online textbook that is completely unnecessary. If you need a GPA booster, take the course. It will most likely help. Wow, for such an easy class, I was given a ton of stress. He's got a really weird grading policy. He takes attendance by random quizzes here and there (usually every couple weeks, then near end of semester its highly unpredictable, like 3 back to back quizzes). The quizzes are easy as long as you get a general idea of the reading. However, if you mess up on one of them, it will bite you in the end. This was honestly a bs class and I really didn't learn much at all. For example, the book we studied half the time they had a disclaimer that they need more information before they could draw a better conclusion. The first essay was straight up dumb, They wanted 3 pages for 18 points, so that each paragraph was literally 4-5 lines and had not much substance at all. The later essays are much better though. The group presentations/project wasn't bad as long as you have a decent team. Participation does matter, although I having trouble seeing how I got my grade when there are 80 people in the class. If you have some issues with the grading on your quiz, don't hesitate to talk to the instructor, the TA's get a lot of stuff wrong. He offers a 2% curve on the final presentation if you fill out the end of semester class survey

The course was so poorly depicted in the syllabus that I had to schedule a meeting with the professor on campus. Also, his grading was just simply unfair. For one assignment, there were 3 criteria outlined by the syllabus, when I got my grade back I was shocked that it was as low as it was. Turns out that the rubric that he sent me had over 30 criteria listed on it! How is that fair? And no, even after I questioned him about this, he refused to change my grade or allow for any make up work. I asked him why he couldn't have just sent everyone the rubric and he said "well, it's a senior class". I'm still not entirely sure why that makes a difference. He also said that, based on the semester, he grades more leniently or more difficultly. I know someone, a guy on the football team, who took this class in a winter session and he got A's on every single assignment without putting forth any real effort. I, who am in the Honors school, have had to dedicate huge amounts of time to these papers, and only have 1 A paper. What really gets me is that the syllabus never changed! How can you grade two semesters so differently when the syllabus doesn't change at all? The class should have been better planned. We had about two weeks to complete the first, smallest assignment and then about a week for each successive assignment. Then the very last, most important, hardest assignment came around and he gave us 4 days! Why couldn't the assignments have been spread out better to avoid us having to write 20 pages and plan 30 minute presentation in 4 days? Lastly, the professor had a discussion board on ELMS that he liked to use for questions, because this way there wouldn't be repeats. I thought this was a good idea until I asked a question myself. With our final project due in less than 2 days it took our professor about a day and a half to answer one of these questions. (The question wasn't mine but I had the same question). It just seems to me like he didn't care about his students needs at all. I originally took this class because I read some reviews about this professor and heard he was a great guy. Well, he seemed nice while I watched him on our video lectures, but he was a real disappointment in person.

Good teacher. Had him for Freshman Connection. Don't need to show up for lectures but he takes attendance. Make sure you participate because thats a part of your grade. Overall he teaches well. All his lecture notes are on slides posted online. His papers are easy too as long as you write exactly what he's looking for. And usually he'll say what he's looking for on the paper. And what he's looking for is on the slides. So it makes it really easy. The TAs graded the papers. I did well on all of them. Interesting class. Easy A. Oh and he'll give pop quizzes off of the chapter you had to read. But he only have it twice. And he gave extra credit on the second quiz. He's easy, but he's very serious.
