the class is interesting but it is not worth it for the time and energy you will put into this class only to be disappointed by the unclear grading rubrics. you spend a lot of time on the weekly graded assignments but they are only worth 10 points each week and the quizzes are super-specific and worth a lot more points but are very confusing. if you care about your gpa, it is not worth it. |

The class provides super interesting information and you will learn a lot! It really does showcase the disparities in healthcare in the US! HOWEVER, the class is NOT worth it. There are reflections due every Wednesday that require HOURS of intense reading and note taking for a 10/10 grade, and quizzes bi-weekly that are extremely weird and nuanced for no reason. You will be constantly worried about the assignments. The methodology of grading is so subjective, and differs with each student. The mandatory weekly lecture is horrifically useless, the professor literally talks and tries to get a medium/ large sized lecture to engage and discuss... not worth it, but great information learned this semester. |

dont do it its not worth the time the money or the constant fear of an A- theres reflection assignments every week, 2 short papers worth 35% of ur grade, and also multiple videos to watch and articles that you gotta know to do the quizzes. dont not for the DSSP just dont |

Kahn is a very nice person, and is very passionate about the sociology of health and illness. There are some papers in this class, you can ask her to review your drafts and she'll give useful feedback. Her transition to online teaching this semester was the best out of all my classes. I highly recommend her class. |
