BSCI105 Expecting an A+ Anonymous 02/24/2012 |
He's the sweetest and nicest professor I've ever had. He gives thorough, albeit boring lectures, and overall I'd recommend him to future students. At the beginning of the year he said that there are 800 points for the class, no curve, and only 30 points worth of extra credit available. That's a *LIE*. There are a LOT more extra credit points available than he lets on! Exams are very detail oriented and very difficult with averages usually in the 60's. They're based solely on the power point lectures, which he posts online. If you memorize absolutely EVERYTHING on the power points, you should get over 100% on the exams quite easily. Lecture attendance isn't mandatory, as he doesn't use clickers, but definitely recommended. Lab gives you easy points with little work and effort. I guess it's there to boost your grade. Make sure to pay attention becasue the practical covers almost all the labs done in class. |

This class was very easy. Although his lectures are boring and he tends to try very hard to make lectures exciting, they don't really make students want to stay in class. You must go to lecture 20 times at least to get the clicker points. Overall, Stewart is a very good teacher if you listen to what he says. He wants his students to pass so utilize his weekly study questions. If you answer these you will be prepared for the tests. Another great thing Stewart does is posts the final question to each test and a sample test for every test. With these and Koofers tests (which were exactly the same tests we were given this year) it is impossible to not get an A. Good luck in Micro! |

He's an awesome professor. I like him a lot. He takes his time to go over the power point slides very well as well as answering any questions you may have. Though the powerpoint slides were somewhat boring there were still parts that captured my interest. Study in advance for the exams by going over every powerpoint slide and masteringbio helps a lot as well. Don't be afraid to approach him for anything in an appropriate manner if you have any questions about exams, lecture quizzes etc. |

easy class, boring but really nice professor, take it to boost your science gpa. you won't learn much. NO EXAMS!!! Just really long problem sets based on research papers we read. every week, you must present a figure/section of a paper--requires some preparation outside of class but for the most part, easy easy easy. Attendance is not that serious. no final!!! You will get an A. |

He's a great teacher who gives his students several opportunities to do well through extra credit on each exam, practice exams, and online quizzes which students are allowed to retake up to three times. This makes it easy to do well. He also sets up weekly review sessions where students can go and ask any questions they may have. He really knows his stuff and provides all his lecture notes online. All the information he test his students on are from the lecture notes, which make the exams very fair. |

Knows his stuff. Very good lectures (he uses powerpoints that he posts online before the lecture) Powerpoints are very straightforward. Bring your laptop to class if possible because he goes through material faster than most can write. Very helpful in Q&A sessions he has every week. Tests are very fair and he gives a practice exam along with an extra credit question for each test before each test. So you always know exactly what is on the test, and how to do the extra credit. Overal very pleasant professor |

Not a very engaging lecturer although he really knows his stuff. He is much more help when you go to his office hours. Sit up closer because he doesn't ever seem to be very loud even when he is miked. |
