Great guy. But do not take his class if you want to learn. I learned very little and his classes were pretty boring. He was nice and cares a lot about his students. Very genuine guy. But there was a lot of reading (which probably isn't necessary). You can skim and be fine. There was one midterm and a final which were pretty decent. Just know the terminology. He lets you bring a cheat sheet for exams but there is a lot of terms to put on there so you have to know some of it. Not a really hard class. |

Roy definitely cared about his students learning and growth in this class. However he was kinda all over the place. Grading was never clear for case studies or presentations. The TA graded the case studys, which took forever and would take off tons of points even though minimal feedback was given. It was helpful that the professor connected class concepts to his work experience. Class discussions were pretty chill and just based off the case studys. No computers allowed and the professor just talked there were no slides to refer back to. The class itself isn't hard just the grading is annoying. |

Seriously the best professor I've had in my college career. Such a chill and laidback guy. He really cares for students and want them to be successful. The discussions in class are engaging and loves to talk with students, willing to have the time for them. The amount of homework isn't too bad. You'd have weekly paper, answering questions based on the case work. You have two midterms and two presentations. Additionally, you'd go to Dingman's Pitch for participation credit. He has years of experiences in the working world and his insights are so valuable. I'm really glad to have him as my professor. |

W man for 364 in the winter session. Class was easy and straight forward. I slept through class and got a 98%. Can’t say anything else about the other classes. |

I loved Professor Thomason's teaching style. It was engaging, friendly, and educational. He brings a lot of his personal experiences to class, which is exactly what professors in the business school should be doing. Each story he tells provides examples of the textbook content or serves to help students' professional journey in some way. He also tells you exactly which parts of the textbook are important, which was super useful for studying for quizzes and exams. The group project was super straightforward, the at-home quizzes weren't bad at all (just a little time-consuming), and the exams were fine if you read the textbook. There were also some weekly writing assignments which were pretty easy and fun grade-boosters. |

The professor overall seems like a nice guy, and his class discussions and demeanor come off like one of those dudes who constantly see on LinkedIn. He forced class to be pretty engaging and had lots of open-ended discussions but was very disorganized and vague. The TA in my class practically graded every single assignment for the class (totaling up to more than 70% of your total grade) and she was an awful TA and took points (like removing 30-50%) off assignments for minor things and will give no feedback/months to grade. Most classwork was written and was subjective so the grading by the TA screwed over most people's grades and the professor seems to have no input on the grading. Some of the other classes with chill TAs had a better experience |

Super nice guy but this class was unnecessarily hard. He assigns long cases every week and is slow to grade them. For your presentations, he will take off points for using filler words more than three times (ex. "um") and takes off points if everything in your presentation isn't visually flawless. I knew people who took other professors for BMGT495 and they didn't have as much work as Roy gave us. The class time is made up of discussions for the entire hour and 15 minutes and you get graded on participation, which isn't super fair to introverts. Maybe look to take this class with another professor if possible. |

A very disorganized class. The grade consists of case studies, two exams (written and open book), and two presentations (that he doesn't grade until the very last second). The case studies are give or take. They seem straight forward but when you get back the grade you don't know what you did wrong because the TA takes off points but doesn't tell you why or where you can improve. You have to email the TA to ask for feedback and they don't respond. The two exams were relatively easy (if you come to class and listen to the discussion you'll be fine). Now the presentations aren't hard but it really is dependent on whether or not you get a good team. If you get a terrible team, you're pretty must screwed for the entire semester because that is your team for the whole semester but if you get a good team, the presentation should be the easiest part of the class. |

One of the best professors that I have had in the Business School. Very much a discussion-based class, but he creates and very comfortable and relaxed atmosphere. Only 2 exams, with 2 presentations as well. Weekly cases to read and write an analysis that helps prep for the exams. As long as you back up your opinions you should be getting good grades. Great professor and pretty easy for a 400-level class. |

I took this class over the winter. Professor Thomason is good at teaching! I personally learned a lot from this class, its very engaging. Make sure you manage your time in that way you will get the assignments done before their deadlines. Quizzes are decent! The final was quite difficult, but if you understand the material honestly you will pass. |

Had him for BMGT364 over the winter semester. For a 3 week accelerated course, we had like 40 assignments which is a crap ton but students know this when signing up for a winter course. With that being said, none of the work was really that hard just tedious and took hours to complete or write up. The quizzes were hard but we had multiple attempts to get A's o them. The only things that were somewhat difficult were the midterm and final. The midterm was a case study in that we wrote a response. The final was a timed lock down browser multiple choice exam. The grading is designed for you to have an A and the only way you don't is if you struggle on the final and drop to an A- or B+. He is super interesting and good at communicating. Loved this prof and looking forward to taking him for BMGT495. |

I took the class over the winter, there are a lot of assignments and group work, but none are incredibly challenging. The lectures are tedious, and most of the information comes from the book, so read the chapters, and you'll be set. The final was hard and requires a lockdown browser, but there are enough assignments that your grade can still recover if you do poorly. One of the better BMGT classes to take over winter, and Thomason is a very kind professor and is always trying to engage his students. Talk in class! |

Great professor who is engaging in lectures. Really cares about all of his students. Test is very difficult, but he gives you enough other assignments to balance it out. One of the best teachers I've had. |

He truly does care about his students. His tests are hard, but he does try his best to prepare you for them. Also, even with hard tests there are buffer assignments that help your grade. He makes the class interesting and was truly a light in my learning |

I can see why he does have positive reviews as i liked him through most of the semester. Although, he says he prepares you for tests and then the whole class bombs them. also, he gives extra written in-person exams that the other profs don’t give. he harps on looking out for us but at the end of the semester i question it a little bit. |

One of the best professors I've had at UMD. Going to class is necessary and mostly lecture-based. If you pay attention you will grow as a student and get a good grade in the class. He cares about his students success! |

Roy is by far one of the BEST professors at UMD. He is caring, understanding, and overall extremely helpful. He wants all students to succeed and gives us the opportunities and resources to do so. The course itself was very enjoyable, it consists of evaluating different case studies. You do have to participate in class , but attendance wasn't always a big deal. There aren't many assignments and if you listen, participate, and ask questions then it is very easy to get an A in this class. |

Probably the NICEST PROFESSOR I EVER HAD. He is always so positive and encourages us to share our thoughts and opinions. This course itself is made for us to think like managers, Roy took it to the next level and created a great environment where I felt comfortable to actually discuss strategy and companies. He genuinely wants students to succeed and is always there to attend to their concerns. |
