PLSC275 Expecting an A- Anonymous 01/06/2016 |
Dr. Walsh is one of my favorite professors on campus and I've only had him for this one class. As everyone else has said he is super passionate about what he does which makes the class so much better. He made the material interesting and I really appreciated the non-traditional reading (chapter books over textbooks) because chemistry at any level is difficult for me. He brought in great guest lecturers and because he had conversations with the class and wrote all the material on the board, keeping up with his lectures wasn't hard. It's true that there is a lot of information to remember and his exams are mostly short answer (never MC or matching), but if you study straight from your notes and diagrams covered in class then there's no way to fail! :) |

He is very passionate about plants and I can say that the class is pretty interesting. It is probably one of the easier lab sciences but by no means is it a breeze. His exams are not multiple choice and there is a lot to remember. I actually studied in groups to try to get through the material. Definitely go to class when you can because he is a decent professor. The lab portion is also pretty interesting and you also get to go on 2 field trips to the National Arboretum and the Botanical Gardens. It reminded me of high school field trips which was awesome. Overall good class, but please do not under estimate the amount of info to remember, not necessarily difficult but time consuming nonetheless |

PLSC100 Expecting a B Anonymous 09/26/2012 |
I gave Dr. Walsh a really high rating because he is truly passionate about plants and was just a genuinely nice guy. However, the course was NOT as easy as I expected. Exams are not multiple choice and the final was really difficult. I had an easy semester otherwise when I took this course, so I studied A LOT and managed an A, but if you don't have a lot of time to dedicate to this class I would recommend a different lab science course. |

He was a pretty cool professor. I learned alot of interesting things in his class. Shoutout to Julia the TA she was bomb. It was a creative class and I felt like they did a very good job of making a class that non-science majors could understand. If you need a non-lab science class take this. You will enjoy it and the readings are easy. By no means is it a birdie class, you have to read and come to lecture but it's fun. We watched videos, dissected flowers, and took a field trip. Cool class. Cool professor. Cool TA. |
