Food chem is a really complex field. Theres no way you're going to learn everything about it in this one class. Make sure to go to lecture and write down the key points and anything she draws on the board is fair game for exams. Don't be intimidated by Dr. Yu's accent, she's extremely knowledgable not only about the material in this class but organic and other chemistries so ask her to repeat stuff if you didn't catch it the first time. Also, you better be fresh on your orgo. The book was not mandatory and a bit difficult to dive into, but most of her slides come from there verbatum. It would be good to at least look at the figures and reactions. Group presentation at the end was pretty smooth. She gives you four topics to choose from, you should pick one that interests you, I'll make researching a lot less tedious. Exams were rather difficult, but doable if you study correctly. Basically anything presented in a cluster or a list you have to know and be able to explain in detail. For our class she made the final optional if you took the other two midterms and were satisfied with your grade. Good luck! |
