If I could give negative stars I would. I warn everyone I know NOT to take him. These were very confusing lectures that didn't seem related to the curriculum material. None of the material had anything to do with anything. I had to withdraw because of how confusing and condescending he was about everything and berated the class because the exam average was 60%... That's not a class issue that's a teaching issue. Took this class with a different professor and got an A+. DO NOT TAKE HIM. He should be fired. Also, very strict about electronics I'm talking you can't even check the time he WILL call you out and stop class for even looking at your Apple watch to check the time.

This class was so great. Attendance was not mandatory and all slides are posted to ELMS. The midterm was in person, but she gave a very detailed study guide. The final was take home, and it was a bit time consuming but not hard at all. There was not much homework throughout the course - only weekly quizzes covering the material from that week, reflection essays (two out of four lowest ones were dropped) and a group project that was super easy. She is just a great person and teacher in general and I would highly recommend this class.

Dr. Steinberg is sweet and does care for her students. In terms of content, FMSC310 is alike many public health courses so it gets a little boring and repetitive, but it is specific to maternal/child health. The class is an easy A as long as you do the work. There are weekly assignments/discussions along with a midterm, final, and a "paper" that summarizes health data, but it is really easy. Please don't take her class if you aren't willing to participate in class discussions, it gets incredibly boring when the same 4 people speak up the entire semester. Like please... you're in college either participate or don't come to class at all.

Great course and super interesting topics, but she’s not a good lecturer and has an attitude when answering questions. Take with another professor and you’ll actually learn the concepts

The best professor ever, her teaching style is so considerate of everyone in the class. She makes sure that everyone understands the material and the assignments. She walks through them which is super helpful, along with her feedback.

This was a three week course & there was a lot of readings and watching lectures. In my opinion, the readings and lectures did not truly align with the three exams. The assignments were graded with a rubric, but often, subjective points were taken off. Lectures were confusing. If I did not have public health and family science backgrounds, it would have been extremely difficult to follow. Grades are not rounded up so I ended with a C+. I would take this class again with a different professor.

This class was rough. I struggled so much. I took this class as an upper level elective which was one of the worst decisions I have ever made. He teaches the class like you already know what he is talking about and a lot of the times he was condescending and rude. DO NOT take this class if you don't have to. It is not worth the stress. The only plus is he gives out extra credit daily.

Professor Mallick is by far the kindest and most dedicated professor I have had at Maryland. She has always gone out of her way to help her students succeed and gives each student all the individualized time they need. The content in her course is very relevant and interesting. She found many ways to make each assignment unique and relevant to the real world. I really admire Professor Mallick for her passion and the way she engages her students.

She was an amazing professor. Her slides were informative, she always answered questions, and she is a nice grader. I really enjoyed this class, and the workload is very low.

She is such a dedicated professor and will set you up for success. The content is really interesting. I have learned a ton and really feel that this is an area that I would like to pursue because of this class. The assignments are straightforward (if you do the work) and she is always open to questions. I highly recommend her class!

She is okay. She is not the worst but also not the best. She is passionate about what she teaches, but it is honestly SO boring. Maybe because it was an 8 am lecture, but nobody wanted to be there. I would recommend taking someone else if you truly want to learn something. Overall, her weekly quizzes are a hit or miss, sometimes, they would reflect the lecture notes/readings, and sometimes they would be so far off. I think she is a good person, but that does not correlate with being a good teacher. If there are any other better professors, I would recommend them because missing points on the quizzes are not the greatest feeling for things you can't even study for, and it drops your grade. Also, make sure you attend every single class because she randomly assigns a class reflection where you only get the information in class, and if you're not in class, you will miss the question. Also, she adds extra information in the slides that she presents vs. the ones that she gives in elms. If you are absent, you just miss out on the information, and then you have to stay during office hours, but she doesn't reteach the material. Also, she talks so softly that it is hard to hear her sometimes.

Very sweet professor, she will set you up for success. She never was harsh with her grading or gave away too much coursework. Her assignments were challenging but not stressful. I was introduced to a lot of good resources in this class and learned the most relevant stuff I'll need going forward in my life as a healthcare professional. She makes a lot of her own graphics, and they're very smooth, which is all very impressive. I literally cannot think about any drawbacks regarding her class.

She is probably the favorite professor I've had in undergrad or at least very close up there. She is so passionate about what she does, always engages with students- she'll write down your questions if she doesn't know the answer and bring it back up next lecture. She is also so adorable, she seems like the best Mom ever and always has the best fits, love going to class and feel like I really learned so much. 310 is really doable, super interesting and engaging, and not much work aside from a weekly lecture quiz and discussion/response-type assignment, highly recommend.

She is a very nice professor but she makes you work for your grade. Go to class, she has random participation points throughout the semester. Also, her tests aren't bad but you do have to study for them. If you can take another professor, maybe you should. She's very particular with her grading.
